And let's be honest, if he's getting paid five plus million dollars for one year of college football, then doesn't need a college degree.

Right! So it’s a profession now and anyone should have the right to make that money if someone is willing to pay them. Surely a college football program would pay Pavia $1M to play QB for them this year. Why can’t that happen.

Very true. But come on, who couldn’t see this coming? Paying college players was always a terrible idea. Well except technically they were already being compensated. But I guess free tuition, free tudoring, free room and board, free meals, free clothing….none of that counted or just wasn’t enough

People have a right to work

This is going to be the key. Is college athlete now considered a profession? By definition getting paid to do a job would mean it’s a profession right? How can someone be denied the right to work and earn a living at their profession.

I’ve been saying someone like Pavia should be fighting like hell to keep playing college football. He’s not a NFL caliber QB but he could certainly make millions playing college football.

Buckle up because all those people who were crying years ago that college players should get paid are all acting shocked by what’s happening now. And it will only get worse. It’s really going to suck for high school recruits when the college rosters are all of a sudden filled up with semi-pro 26-32 year olds.

I think it’s all hilarious. Paying college players wasn’t really thought out very well.

The SZNS album series was a novel idea but it was pretty awful overall IMO

There are more than a few gems within the SZNS records IMO.

I also don’t think there’s a complete clunker of an album in their catalog. Certainly some are way better than others, but I have at least 3 songs in my all time favorites from each album.

ETA: this latest album is really good imo. Definitely a throw back to their 90’s sound. “We Might As Well Be Strangers” might have best the chorus they’ve produced in a very long time.

This!

Several years ago pretty much everyone and all the sports media were saying “pay the players”. And now everyone is acting shocked at what’s happening. How is anyone really surprised by this?? Careful what you wish for

But today is a terrible day for collegiate athletics.

It was a terrible day for collegiate athletics when they decided to pay players a couple years ago. But that ship has sailed so now you go and play with the new rules in place. Today is a GREAT day for LSU. Keep winning.

Yes it sucks that everyone thought college players should be paid beyond free tuition, free housing, free food, free clothing, free tudoring, plus stipends. Careful what you wish for. It is changed forever
Is college football player a profession? If so, how can you limit someone’s right to work

And I’m also surprised when people tell me they haven’t seen or even heard of True Romance
I heard him briefly the other day for the first time and that was my immediate thought. Dude sounding like Obama.

The Simmons beef literally goes back to 2002. He is very weirdly fixated on this city and even does it with the Saints sometimes. He just doesn't like it here.

I really think it’s a weird jealousy he has of the city of New Orleans when comparing it to the city of Boston. That’s all I got.

I’m sorry - did he say anybody changed any votes in any US election?

Tens of millions of people “voted” who didn’t actually vote. China stole our voter rolls, generated mail in ballots for millions of people who otherwise would not have voted, and then mailed them in. And Dems see nothing wrong with that
But yeah let’s keep the roster the same! Keep Trey, herb and Zion!

I would trade herb and Trey in a heartbeat if any other teams value them.

Some folks been underselling trey like crazy

I think Trey is a difficult player to evaluate in terms of value. On paper he looks really good. The height, the length, the shooting. And he’s carried the label as a long, athletic wing. But then you watch him play and he seems very one dimensional offensively and not great defensively. I think for the Pels it’s probably best to trade him at his highest potential trade value which is now. 3 firsts and it’s a no brainer for me. If no one will give 3 then I probably still take 2 firsts. The Pels have to do something. Running it back with basically the same roster will be brutal.

Reading this thread I’m surprised how many people missed this movie. It’s been in my top 5 since it came out.
