Absolutely not. No more than I care that Alabama isn't as good in football - or Kentucky isn't as good in Basketball.

And it'll be a cold day in Hell before I form my view of politics or culture over how it impacts my free view of kids playing elite club sports on the weekend. Because elite club sports is all college ball is.

As soon as you can tell me what the "mission and intent" is, while you pay the coach $10 million a year is somehow something other than money, I might listen.

No, I won't. Because you're telling me bullshite. Nobody waxes eloquently about "mission and intent" - while arguing for not paying somebody while somebody else collects $150 million or so a year ... other than bullshitters or fools.

You're just arguing that the wrong kids are playing for somebody else's brand, and you don't like it. Pure and simple.

Every coach agrees with Nick and they have all pretty much said so. He was asked to go up there by Sankey because he knows that Saban will be listened to more than anyone else.

I'm sure they all do. Just like every CEO agrees that the cost of labor is too high.

I think he simply knows things aren't heading in the right direction with NIL, and he knows who to talk to about fixing it before it's too late. People here give Nick Saban constant grief for obvious reasons, but I think he legitimately does use his position to try and improve the state of college football. He may not always be right, and you may sometimes disagree with his opinions, but I honestly believe he tries to do what he feels is best for the sport and by extension, the players. He also probably knows a whole lot more about the real problems (behind the scenes) than we ever will. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up on an NCAA committee or as a conference liaison once he hangs up his headset.

Was he doing what was “best” for college football when he marched with a BLM flag? If so please explain.

Nick Saban (D-AL) gives a shite about his ego and his ego only.

His arse should have been this vocal and gone to DC before this ever started. You could see it on the horizon

Why does the Fed have anything to do with this? Shouldn’t their be a Commissions Council structured within the NCAA to handle this and not include government? They’re literally growing legs they shouldn’t be.

but why exactly can't a person sign an NIL contract for any amount of money, by anybody, and at any time? Why can't a booster do this? And what's to stop somebody using NIL as a recruiting tool?

If you truly don't know why NIL is bad for college sports and don't know the answer to your questions, then you never will.

I, for one, am glad that Saban will try to use his influence to hopefully get control of this NIL bullshite.

Why can't an NFL team offer a player $100,000,000 to play for their team? Because there are RULES in place (salary cap) to prevent this.

There is no reason college football (specifically certain conferences) can't agree on a set of rules to control this.

It is crazy to think that you probably agree that NFL teams cannot spend limitless money for a player because of salary cap rules, while also thinking college football players should be able to make as much as they want because there are no rules to prevent this.

And before you state that the money is being made "outside of football", people are being ridiculously naive if they do not realize that it will primarily be used to "pay for play".

What a weak excuse to just let things continue as they currently are.

The SCOTUS ruling was handed down over 2 years ago. The NCAA has done little to form the ground rules for NIL. My thought is that the NCAA is trying to avoid other lawsuits by making rules governing what can and can't happen with NIL. It's almost as though, welp, SCOTUS won, we lost. Let the chips fall where they may.

Saban has a 100% track record of advocating for what's best for football.
