I have worked in multiple restaurants over the span of decades and have only seen it used and personally used it to omit ingredients from a dish. Never when we were out of perishable.

A restaurant doesn't say 86 when they are out of something. A waiter says 86 an ingredient when a customer doesn't want said ingredient on an entree that it usually comes with. Not only does she fail to understand the application, she publicly announces it to her constituents.

Seems like patrons would want the inverse of what Prive did by starting an age policy for 30 and up, instead going with 50 and down.
