Someone saying that they don't want politics mixed with sports doesn't equal trying to silence the black athlete. Sporting events are supposed to be the escape from the stresses of everyday life, not reminders of it.

The vast majority of us would get fired if we used our jobs as a platform to push our political views on others.

PeeJay is just a troll. All he does is think of what he can say that will piss of the largest numbers of posters. He’s been doing it since he joined. He’s a “Georgia Tech fan” that never talks about Georgia Tech, ever. 99% of his content is some sort of political angle he knows will rile people up. He only posts on the SECrant...as a “Georgia Tech fan.” That should tell you all you need to know about why he posts the things he does.

True and here is my question. Are all players now going to have the ability to use games as a platform to promote whatever cause is closet to them? These leagues have been 100% against that for as long as I can remember. Will we see players with the right to raise awareness for women's rights, cancer, mental illness, poverty, physical handicaps, immigrants, homelessness, etc?

the Era of the silent Black Athlete is gone and it AIN'T COMING BACK!!

The Advertisers & TV Networks - the people with BILLIONS AT STAKE ARE OK WITH THIS, which means they have done the advanced Market Research and they are comfortable with the opinionated Socially Conscious Black Athlete going forward, and it has nothing to do "Librul vs Conservative", it has to do with MONEY and the Societal Changes in America going forward

During FB season take ya MAGA Hat wearing asses to the Woods and go hunt during FB season, there'll be plenty of Fans to take your place, once the economy gets back to normal and we have a vaccine

None of this has been proven to be true.

Sports leagues have never had anywhere close to the political messaging that is being pushed right now.

We already saw the NFL's numbers plummet just during the anthem controversy, no one really knows what will happen if political messaging becomes more rampant throughout sports.

You say networks and corporations are "okay" with it, yet you're glossing over the fact that they've seen zero "blowback" from it so far.

It is the same. You want to cancel them out because you don't agree with something.

No. It's actually the friggin law sir. As I stated, the KSU players came out and told the world that unless the student was dismissed from KSU they would not play.

The President came and spoke the truth. It's a public University and they can not dismiss that student.

quote:

Slippery slope fallacy. Especially since it's the message now that you are upset with.

BS. Literally you are not even on the same page. Legality has been what I have been speaking of.

A public University CAN NOT allow a group of people display a message without allowing others their voice.

Has not one damn thing to do with a slippery slope.

quote:

Nope, you are just projecting yourself onto the population. Only 60% of the population votes in a high year. Even less care about politics to this level. Way less. Among those that do, 50% of them will agree with the message. Leaving about 25% of the people MAX who would disagree and even care. And then among them, most will just be normal adults, think it's dumb and go on about their lives.

Nobody is going to care and that's what pisses you off the most.

LOL! USB's survey showed that 50% of the people who stopped watching the NFL stated that their #1 reason was kneeling during the Anthem.

“The National Anthem protest was not only the most frequently cited reason, it also had the largest annual increase of any explanation cited for watching less NFL,”

Keep burying that head in the sand.

What are these outfits going to do when they realize over half the country has stopped watching em. When the money isnt there, theyre going to have a hell of a time recouping fan interest after all this SJW and BLM bullshite. The pandemic has awoken so many to what free time can do for you when not spent so frivilously on sports. Be interesting to see how it evolves but on its current trajectory its something I will not support with my wallet.

Yep. If you think about it, it's actually quite hilarious.

Liberals never, ever, ever think of long term consequences.

It's similar to the mistake the feminists made with title 9. They screwed up by not making it actually about equality. Instead they made it about preferential treatment. The problem with preferential treatment is other people want that too, so then you get men dominating women's sports.

There will be a consequence from sports only giving a platform to one type of ideology. It may take years to come, but it will happen.

Excuse me?

They don't have JOBS!!

I thought these were UNPAID AMATEURS in NCAA'S "Amateur Model"

Shouldn't unpaid AMATEURS be free to say what they want within reason for decency purposes?

So let's see HYPOCRITICAL a-hole:

You want them to be UNPAID AMATEURS because that's the way it's always been, for the purity of Amateurism, then when they act like UNPAID AMATEURS and do it for fun and add in some Social Justice Opinions, since it's all for FUN anyway, after all Amateurism is all about fun, so standing up for SJ Initiatives should be NO BIG DEAL?

BUT NO!

When it is convenient FOR YOU you want them to ACT LIKE PAID PROFESSIONALS (notice your example comparing what would happen to you on your JOB) without them getting paid above their full scholly

You just showed your deep rooted hypocrisy, you look at what they do as A JOB, but you want it to be a Job where they don't GET PAID

BTW , that's next on the agenda, pretty soon they'll have their SJW Opinions, AND they'll be getting enhanced stipends on top of their full scholly

The World's changing a-hole, don't get mad because another person's "JOB" gives them more leeway & freedom than you have at your job

To summarize, no one gives a shite about what freedoms you do or don't have on your shitty job or the vast majority's job, if that's true, then don't Playa Hate, instead congratulate them that their hard work has put them in a position where they can potentially have a more powerful voice than jerks like you

They can put what ever they want on so long as ALL SPEECH is allowed.

"Support the Blue Line"

"Jesus Saves"

"#AbortionisMurder!"

"Free Hong Kong!"

"End Chinese slave labor"

This only works when ALL speech is protected and allowed.

Actually, it doesn't work - period. There should be a blanket ban on anything other than specifically sanctioned statements on uniforms. Maybe let a kid write whatever the hell he wants on shoes or mouthpiece or gloves.

This is a slippery slope the end of which nobody wants to see.

Nice melt, bud.

Now point to where I've ever said college players shouldn't be compensated.

Social Justice Opinions

Thats exactly what it is, an opinion.

The entire premise of BLM is based on the opinion that black lives currently matter less than other lives, where's the proof of this opinion?
