Napier’s $31m buyout…it’s really not that much in today’s SEC CFB

The alternative of giving a coach more time and then cutting bait could set a program back 4-6 yrs.

I can see UF 86’ing Billy at the end of the year.

$31m is chump change in today’s major. CFB.

It isn't even half of Jimbo's buyout.

Yep. UF didn’t over pay for Nape.

Gives them a workable buyout to move on if they want.

No it isn’t. And how many other staff members have to be paid out too?

And are they still making any buyout payments to Mullen ? That is another factor. The only thing I could see forcing their hand is if the buyout doesn’t really decrease.

And they are going to fire a coach after a season and a half, maybe two, then allow the same dumbass AD to decide on the new one? Money guys won’t kick into the fund unless dipshit is gone , I’m sure.

Another incredibly poor leadership decision with that contract

Jimmy Sexton doing work.

He’s the real MVP to the majority of SEC coaches.

Napier is already starting to think about his next big move....

Look, I know Jimbo has had some rough patches. But compared to Napier's staff....yuck.

Just goes to show that a program like Florida shouldn't be seeking contract deals with unproven coaches. Napier isnt learning a thing on the job. Same exact team showed up against Utes.

I think 5-7 is the absolute ceiling.

I’m loving all of this. It’s a big frick you to all the assholes in our fan base that wanted LSU to hire a coach from ULaLa and thought he would turn out better than the guy who came from Notre Dame. Sunbelt Billy will be at William and Mary next season.

That completely sucks for UF but then again, giving out such a huge contract to OJT type of coach wasn't wise.

Still feel sorry for my UF baws though.

A proven head coach, with a natty and multiple New Year’s Day bowl wins, is gonna get a large buyout. It’s really only malfeasance to give a large buyout to a guy who has never won a New Year’s Day bowl.

I don't fault you guys for Jimbo's initial contract, I don't fault Florida for Napier's.

You have to make a 3-4 year commitment to a guy but the extension A&M gave Jimbo in 2021 was absolutely a disaster.

Florida isn’t going to pay a 31m buyout.

How much did they pay Mullen?

You can't keep firing coaches lol - Tennessee did that after Fulmer, Texas did that after Mack, etc...

Saban really screwed up everyone's understanding of how to build and sustain big time programs, and Kirby is now doing the same thing.

Florida got in this mess firing Muschamp after 3.5 years, McElwain within 3 years, and Mullen within 3.5 years.

Don’t forget they rushed to hire billy as well. Their AD needs to go ASAP.

I mean when you keep making shitty hires you can. Dooley was lucky to get a third year. He honestly should have been dismissed after the season ending loss to Kentucky in his second season. Butch got five years before he was sacked. Pruitt would have gotten a fourth year if not for the whistleblower coming forward about NCAA violations.

As Jeremy Foley once said, “what should be done eventually, must be done immediately.” You keep hiring and firing until you get it right.

Firing Napier right now with a top 3 incoming 2024 class would be stupid as hell.

Its 2023, not 2013.
