I think the lineman stepped on Eli's foot, Eli didn't trip

For Arkansas, it was a dropped popfly. That still grinds my gears and will as long as I exist.
For football, obviously the Stoernover. However, I'll never forget Mallett throwing an interception to a defensive lineman against Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl a few yards away from completing one of the biggest comebacks in bowl history. That game changed me as a fan.

You can throw some Lones Sieber missed field goals in there for good measure.

Next year we finish the regular season ranked number 1 but lose our bowl game and Bama wins their bowl game to take the national title.
Close!
Alabama began the '65 season ranked 5th and Arkansas 6th, despite being the only team to go undefeated the previous season. Arkansas remained undefeated throughout the regular season, but Alabama lost Its first game and dropped out of the AP. Alabama reentered the AP in the middle of the season, after tying unranked Tennessee and beating an unranked FSU team for homecoming.
The week before, Arkansas obtained it's first, and only, #1 ranking in the AP, after beating #1 Texas. Despite having a 18 game winning streak, AP voters moved Michigan State ahead of Arkansas in the same week that Alabama reentered the AP. Arkansas would remain #2, until the final poll, where we finished 3rd.
Both won out, but Arkansas finished the regular season at 2nd, while Michigan State finished 1st and Alabama finished 4th. After the three undefeated teams at the top all lost, Alabama was voted #1, despite having a worse record and only spending half the year ranked. Michigan State was voted the coaches champion at the end of the regular season.
It must be good to be Alabama, but I'm not so sure that biased voters would have ranked Arkansas #1 if we had won our bowl game. Ironically, Alabama beat Nebraska in it's '65 bowl game, after Arkansas had beaten Nebraska in '64. We were 2-0 against Texas, while Alabama was 0-1. The only advantage for Alabama was that they beat a LSU team that beat Arkansas in the '66 Cotton Bowl, for our first loss in 23 games.

OP, you forgot one.
For LSU, can it be anything other than 1/9/12?

In 2020 Ole Miss was poised to have it's best baseball season in school history and on pace for a national seed and possible #1 over all. Then a china man ate a bat that had sex with a pangolin. All sports were canceled and the world went to absolute shite.

Arkansas was once ranked the team with the most disappointments historically, or something like that, by ESPN.

In the 1990 Final Four, a 34-3 Arkansas team gets upset by Duke. Beat Duke the following year and again for the '94 national championship, making Arkansas one of the few schools to own a winning record over Coach K. Duke was the underdog in every game.
In the 1979 Final 8 against Indiana State, and Larry Bird, Arkansas led with little time left. A player with the ball was tripped and fell. He was called for travelling, even though the rules at the time said he must turn over for travelling. He did not. ISU got the ball and Bird hit the winning shot. Arkansas went home, while ISU beat DePaul and lost to Magic, and MSU, in one of the most historic college basketball games in history.

Thats the kind of luck a team usually needs to win a national title. Thats also how they beat UGA in the first match up. Crazy how close the difference was between 9-3 and national title.

Easy. Leading UCLA 44-10 late in the 3rd, then falling apart completely and losing 45-44.
Off the field is definitely the moron that pulled a saber on a cheer leader and still got whipped

2015: 4 and 25. If Ole Miss beats Arkansas, Ole Miss would have made an SEC championship game appearance against a Florida team without their starting QB Will Grier. An sec championship would have probably put the Rebels in the CFP playoffs.
Nope, that was never going to happen.
Ole Miss would still have had 2 losses including a double digit whipping from Memphis.

I feel like you should have included the immaculate deflection. That was one of the wildest things that’s every happened. I know the stakes weren’t super high but still.
OP should have included 2014 Auburn and Laquon fumbling on the one inch line for us
