He's also said multiple times this week he's past it and not upset about it. I'm sure that will continue to be ignored though.

I don't think any coach, or any decent coach, resents an assistant taking another head coaching job. It is pretty much understood in sports that is an okay path to take.

I heard the interview with Mainieri about this when LSU played Mississippi State. While he did not act all outraged, it was pretty clear Mainieri thought protocol had been violated when State spoke to Cannizaro without speaking to him first. It was not clear as to whether Mainieri was alos upset with Cannizaro for not telling him he was in talks, but Mainieri had every opportunity in the interview I saw to say he had no beef with Cannizaro and didn't take it.

Stuff happens. They will get over it. The teacher owned the pupil this year, that's for sure. I am not sure it was an even playing field, LSU clearly has better pitching this year and a very veteran team.

I think Cannizaro was a good get for Miss State, time will tell. he will and should get some slack cut to him for his first year. He made a super regional.

But State baseball fans are much like LSU baseball fans. Anything less than Omaha is a bad year. There will be a considerable segment of LSU fans who will not be happy with Mainieri if LSU doesn't win it all.

I think the verdict is still out on Cannizaro. State has great facilities and recruits very well. Most decent coaches can go to a program like that and win more than they lose.

Championship baseball teams are built. LSU built this team years ago and are very fortunate that so many key contributors came back . Congrats and good luck in paying off the commitment made to this year.

Andy had zero to do with building this MSU team. He could only steer the ship he was given.

I'm happy for LSU and the kids who came back, and I'm very happy with Cannizaro leading MSU

Coming from lsu players, the main issue was Mangum texting all the current lsu players about AC taking the job before PM had any notice.

It was just an odd timing thing, that the MSU AD took the Fla job, Cohen gets promoted, and the baseball hire was made shortly after.

If there is any beef, it's probably because of this...
quote:

“I said, ‘Well, have you even talked to Andy? How do you know he’s the guy you want?’ He said they had had some conversations. Well, I didn’t know he had had some conversations with Andy. I was a little bit taken aback by that.”

I doubt he's upset with Cannizaro taking the job, but if I were he, I'd be a little miffed that Cannizaro and Cohen were discussing it without giving me a heads up. I don't think it would be any reason for holding a grudge, though.

It would seem that the original conversation between Cohen and Cannizzaro dates back a couple of years and then when the Stricklin thing happened, the whole process ended up getting awkward.
How Mangum would have known it is a bit of a surprise. That means word at State leaked out somehow (which is not good).
I don't particularly like PM but don't blame him for being a bit miffed that his players get word on social media/twitter before he does.

Otherwise, I think all this will settle down and not be a issue going forward.

Good luck to the Tigers in Omaha.

Unbelievable that Tulane passed on him.
It's the baseball equivalent of Sandy Barbour passing up Rich Rodriguez for Chris Scelfo or LSU/Joe Dean passing up Steve Spurrier and Mike Shanahan for Mike Archer.

But hey, that's Tulane.

Bottom line.......Manieri and Cohen are both assholes and see each other as their on assholish reflections.

Around that time there were several info leaks from the Athletic Dept. Most pertained to the AD and the new AD search. There were a lot of very unhappy donors and employees of the university

This is wayyyyy over blown. Does anyone, LSU or Moo St. fan, really believe that CPM has been wasting his time worrying/bitching about AC with all that's been on the line for LSU the past mth & a half? This is a media/fan driven B.S. issue.

Congrats on that 5-0 record. Things will start to change next year, when AC has a full arsenal at his disposal, instead of a injury depleted team that he had this season. Good luck in the CWS.

I take manieri over cann everytime without question. He's won a natty. He's 5-0 vs him head to head. They can say all they want about injuries and whatnot but they didn't have a problem winning this year and winning their regional. Manieri is just a better coach period. I wouldn't trade coaches with state at all. Manieri owns cann.

Word I'd Mainiari was upset Bc Andy got a big head coaching job before Alan Dunn and felt Andy didn't put in his dues.

There's also a rumor that Paul didn't try to help Cannizzaro get the Tulane job

Dude - settle down. Cannizaro has been a HC all of 7 months. Nowhere in any of this discussion has anyone said he is a better coach than Manieri. Will he be? Who the hell knows? He did an incredible job with out ragtag group this year and hopefully we can one day be a full squad.

It was pretty evident after the game Saturday that there was no love lost between the two. Give it time, these are two great programs that can do more for the sport of college baseball together than apart.
