Andy C left for a promotion unsure why we (LSU) would be mad. He got an a great position good for him no?

All I've ever heard was that Paul M was a miffed about not being notified prior to Andy's departure.
That's understandable. I can't imagine Manieri still being upset now that he's on his way to Omaha.

Unless he's really spiteful

PM is a beech. He can coach, but he's a woman with all that whining

I heard one of your local guys on our local show H2H last week and riff was more between PM and John Cohen; not so much with Cannizaro. Odd time of the year for sure to make a coaching hire but I think PM accused Cohen of talking to Cannizaro before LSU was notified. I suppose that could cause something of a riff between PM and AC but safer for AC in case he didn't get the job.

Does anyone know what Cannizairo's record versus Paul Mainieri since the spilt and the riff started?

There are reports that PM told Cohen to tread lightly because AC didn't have head coaching experience. He was literally trying to hose him out of the job for his own personal gain. I would be pissed as well if I were AC.

I don't think there's beef between the two. I think PM has beef with the way John Cohen hired him.

IMO, he's being petty because even though Canny promised he wouldn't recruit any of LSU's recruits over to State, one guy still flipped.

The story I heard from industry people was that Canny tried to talk the kid into staying with LSU and really was holding up his promise to not poach guys, but the kid was only going to LSU because of him and wanted to follow him to State.

I heard this from people not associated with either school and with no axe to grind in any direction.

I don't want to pick at the scab, so I'll just say the we MSU baseball fans are very familiar with spiteful coaches. There doesn't have to be rhyme or reason for one to get pissy..

I've liked Mainieri since his Notre Dame days and wanted him at MSU, to be honest

All I know is MSU made a great hire and they know it.

Unbelievable that Tulane passed on him.

Ultimately I think the primary reason CPM was pissed is because Tanner Allen decommitted from LSU and inked with MSU after CPM asked Andy not to poach any of his players. Can't fault the kid for developing a relationship with Andy and wanting to play for him. And you can't fault Andy for accepting his commitment. Is he just supposed to turn the kid away or something? I doubt that Andy was maliciously trying to pluck him from LSU and Paul should really get over it if that's why he's upset.

Lsu basketball coach just did the same with a VCU commit

If PM can't get over a kid flipping, then he is ruining a good chance to develop the rivalry to a respectful vs bitter level.

I think PM just hates Cohen and wanted to find a reason to be pissed off.

No there aren't. The main reason Cohen picked Cannizaro was because of how highly Maineiri spoke of him. You just made that shite up.

Maineiri was upset initially about the kid that switched from LSU to State but i don't think he's still mad about it.

You really think he has to try to find reasons to not like Cohen?

Cannizaro did a great job this season with the makeshift team he had due to injuries but he was pretty terrible last night.

It probably wouldn't have mattered either way. LSU is just better than State.
