Ostrander is a solid coach and has been mentioned but word is his wife is from Hattiesburg and they have 2 teenaged daughters who are in HS and not looking to move.

Why would Wes leave a state with a very fertile baseball recruiting base and population and go to Arkansas? I mean Arkansas barely has 3M pop and GA has over 11M, that is just stupid.

He’s from Arkansas and has coached there before.

Don’t hire the interim coach

We didn’t after Andy Cannizzaro was fired and his interim took us to the CWS. No chance we do now.

I bet O’Sullivan puts his name in the hat

His name has been mentioned. However, fans mentioned that he has some character issues including being an open swinger lol

Mississippi state should reach out to Butch Thompson first. He is from Mississippi and was the pitching coach there. The only thing that would probably prevent him from going is Cohen is his current AD at Auburn. Butch would be a home run hire for Ms. State.

Butch is a solid HC but doesn’t seem very high on the early lists of hot boards. A more popular name is Duke HC Chris Pollard and ECU hc Cliff Godwin

A lot of State fans want an outside of the box HC that can really recruit and develop. That tended to be the downfall for Lemonis. He didn’t use the natty to boost recruiting and sucked in the portal.

You are a top 5 college baseball job in the country. Conduct your search accordingly

Well the biggest name being thrown around is Virginia HC Brian O’Connor his buyout is only $500k compared to $5mil plus for Wes and Mingione from UK
quote:

Your AD is dumb if they don’t try to throw everything at Wes Johnson

Word is his buyout is extremely high and he’s waiting to take the Arkansas job when Van Horn retires.

Tell me about Dan Fitzgerald

His name is being mentioned for the Mississippi State head baseball coaching job. He’s doing a good job at Kansas, how did yall like him at LSU? Was he more known for recruiting or as a hitting coach?

First question I would ask if contacted by MS State would be centered around what type of NIL commitment, plans, etc they have specifically towards baseball. Facilities and traditions are great but if you are at a recruiting/NIL disadvantage compared to the rest of the league, winning becomes really difficult. And, that seems to be the case with State across most sports.

Well we just had 11 players drafted off last years team including a 1st and 2nd rounder. We have put a number of players in the majors in recent years. I don’t think nil or recruiting players to State will be an issue. We just need an ALPHA type head coach who can win close games.

Out of all those, Skip Johnson feels the most “Mississippi State”.

He’s older than Bisnco and pushing 60
quote:

Are we getting a decent contributor, State fans?

Some games he might score 17 and get 10 boards others he will score 5 and get 4 and stay in foul trouble. Im curious to how he will react to tough coaching from Pearl, supposedly he butted heads with Jans a few times. He was benched in 2023 and almost left the team at the end of that season.
This screams Ole Miss flip or attempt to

That's why I make mine Alp

Ive yet to see this sold anywhere in Mississippi between Jackson to Gulfport

So the son is the one killing all the boyfriends?

Stiffler?

I don't think its him.

Dedan played in the Mountain West man. That whole league has a pulse

The upper half really does, but the bottom 4/5 teams are horrible Air Force, Wyoming, Fresno st., San Jose St. I think 3/4 of those only had single digit wins.
Jake is 7-8 in his last two games with 4 rbi and 3 stolen bases. Kid can straight hit. Crazy how mlb looks at age and thinks because he’s 29 he can’t hit mlb pitching after leading AAA in batting average last year.

Josh Elander from Tennessee.

This guy checks all the boxes

Posey’s character has been the best character this season by a long shot. Just listening to anything she says is hilarious.

And relatable as a southerner who has friends with wives or mothers like her.
Good rebounder and shot blocker athletic kid. Just not much offense skills wise. He'd play about the first 5 minutes of each half then we would put in Murphy at the 5 and he'd rotate in if there was found trouble or if we went with 2 bigs.

Keef going full Norman Bates was fantastic.

I lost it when he started singing misbehaving in ghost voice
