Most Popular Team In Each State
A state that is nothing but a hot arse desert chooses a hockey team as it’s favorite?
I figure that’ll change with the Raiders moving to LV
In fairness, what STEADY team does NV own - maybe the 51's of minor league baseball?

I wonder how close the Saints are to Ole Miss and State in Mississippi.
The state of Mississippi both southern and central MS are huge Saints fans and a good part of north MS.

Wrong

Nashville sports radio is mostly Predators and Titans. With Memphis mostly supporting the Grizzlies I guess UT won the split vote with them owning East TN.

It always seemed to me like State had more fans in MS bc like mentioned earlier, more State grads stay in state

Cubs are not more popular than the Bears. Despite the Red Rifle and horrible ownership, Chicago is a Bears town and always will be.

It's deeper than that.
Nashville sports radio has quite a bit of UT coverage. Considerably more when UT isn't dog shite in football.
The Grizzlies are Memphis and West TN specific largely speaking. They have very little support in other areas of the state. It's always been a Memphis vs everybody mentality. Same thing with The Tigers.
The Titans are an expansion team who didn't move to the state until 97-98 which means there are other fan bases who had established presences like The Cowboys, Falcons and Steelers just based off the timeline. Middle TN is by far their largest support area although they continue to grow in popularity statewide.
The Preds despite their popularity and success are a hockey team in the South where they'll always play second fiddle to the football teams.
UT is the only team who has large numbers of fans from Memphis to Johnson City. The Vols didn't "split" because of East TN. They won because they've been the states team for over 100 years and have generations on generations of fans. There's no question East TN is the true strong hold followed by Middle TN but the presence is state wide.

SC is dumb. USCe has many more fans than Clemson, that is a fact. The only part of the state that favors Clemson is Greenville area.

Clempson owning SC has to hurt if you’re a gamecock fan...

Hell, the southern portion of mississippi has more lsu fans than state or ole miss fans too. I promise you that.

There is no way on Earth that the damn OKC Thunder are more popular than Sooner football.

I could see OU splitting a large chunk of In-state votes with OSU. Plus the thunder really benefited from a hot start with Durant and Westbrook.
Anyone that has been to Vegas, pre covid can tell you how much the state loves the Knights. Hell after going to one game, there my favorite hockey team. Wouldn’t surprise me if they remain no.1 for awhile.
No way North Carolina panthers out pace UNC.

May I humbly point out that we're the only expansion team carrying our weight here?

True story. All them USM grads that want to feel included.

Not really. They’ve been winning. That means more of a bandwagon presence. At least I got a degree from my school and will always support them no matter how shitty we are at a sport. Most recent Clemson fans have probably never stepped foot in a college classroom. I’d argue many don’t even have high school diplomas.

I really find this hard to believe.
They’re extremely popular in Vegas. The locals finally have a team and a lot of the transplants probably weren’t die hard hockey fans, so they’ve adopted the golden knights. I can completely see it.

Surprised Oklahoma isn't OU football
Ok St has fans that hate OU, plus a few are pulled away from Tulsa a major metro area. The Thunder pull the entire state.

I have family in Vegas and it’s absolutely true. Mainly because it is an expansion team and not some random team like the Raiders relocating there. It’s “their” team, so to speak.
