Yeah, the topic is legendary. My age, I say Bo even though I think Herschel more dominant. But Bo was at the front of two sports star, commercials, marketing, Bo knows!

Exactly! I'm not discounting Herschel, but let's be honest. Unless you were watching him play, you never heard his name much. Bo, on the other hand, was a household name and one of the most famous people on Earth.

The Bo everybody talking about is Bo Wallace, right? That 2014 upset over Bama was beautiful. Easily best player in SEC history.

Herschel Walker was a household name. Everyone in the country knew who he was.

Bo was a bigger name because of Nike.

ETA: One season does not make a player legendary.
I'm sorry, but his 2018 season should remove Burrow from the conversation.

If Pat Dye ran Bo like Dooley ran Walker, Bo would have had at least two Heismans. Bo's best year was the year AU ran out of the wishbone and Bo was used as a blocker as much as a rusher. Dye wasted his talent and when he tried to shift to the I, he didn't have a QB or any WRs to compliment his running.

Shaq and Pistol Pete before him on "legendary".

Edit: Neither of those won the Heisman, the national championship, or had the kind of season he did. That was truly one for the ages.

The reason Herschel numbers were so great was because he was all Georgia had he averaged 5.3 yds per carry. But Vince Dooley ran him to death to save his own bacon. 274 times in 1980, 385 in 1981. 335 in 1982.

Auburn had other talent around Bo including Lionel James and Brent Fullwood both great backs in their own right. Bo ran 127 times in 1982. He ran 158 time in 1983, in 1884 he only ran 87 time and in 1985 he ran 278. He averaged 6.6 yds per carry.

Herchel only out ran Bo with most yardage in a single year in 1981 with 1891 yards on 385 attempts which took 108 more attempts to get about 100 yards more than Bo got in 1985 with 1786 on 278 attempts. For you Georgia fans that’s less than 1 yard per carry. Bo also gained more yards in receiving while catching the same number of passses.

Bo was the better back. More yardage less attempts .

And as far as his Track career goes I watched Bo and Lionel James smoke him in 1983 in the 55 meters.

Herschel is the right answer.
The big dawg never got scared to be hit unlike Bo in that game with UT. Bo just gave up in that game when the Vols broke his face mask. That is not the mark of being legendary

Another DA bammer. Bo was hurt in the UT game and still played. Same with the UF game. Remember he played with broken ribs against Bama ?

Bo did the same in many games. Sat out with bruised thigh vs UF in a big one. Herschel dislocated his shoulder vs ND, had the trainers pop it back in and carried on.

That may be the most ignorant post in the history of the internets.

Even as an AU fan, I'd have to say Herschel. This guy actually got a championship for UGA. Nothing less than superhuman, IMO.

Bo Jackson and Herschel Walker

Bo honestly is probably a little more legendary as a two sport athlete... breaking bats over his thigh and climbing the wall. Hell he could throw em out at home from the outfield wall. He might’ve been a better baseball player than football. Absolute freak.
