How are A&M and LSU looking at QB? Any big expectations there?

LSU is waaaayy better talentwise on offense this coming season. The question is will we be able to do anything with it and I still do not know much of what the new staff offensive gameplan will look like.

Top 5 O Vols
Top 10 Bama MSU
Potential top 25 Arky

The rest have too many questions
UofSC has a QB in theory but what around him and can he hold it together.

LSU- they have so many unknowns in year 1 it’s a crapshoot

Ole Miss- kiffin has the magic touch and all the pieces but no QB1

Florida- 1st year lost a bunch of O. No idea

Kentucky- sometimes they are good, sometimes shite

Auburn- on paper they should suck but that’s usually their best years.

TAMU- I’ll believe it when I see it

Mizzou- no, nothing here

Vandy- nothing to see here

UGA- it’s Bowers and nothing.

Talent wise - I agree. Burton and Pickens were talented to be sure. Neither were in the lineup enough to be the top guys. Bowers was way more productive. AD Mitchell and Ladd McConkey had similar numbers to Burton. All three of those guys are back. Milton and McIntosh are very talented backs. Add in Arik Gilbert and sone freshman contributors. UGA will be just fine. Hopefully Burton will stay healthy for you guys. We got a couple of receivers that have similar injury histories.

I don’t expect our offense to be explosive, I want dominating on the ground and taking advantage through the the air when the line is stacked. This can be done.

Why you insist that LSU should be up there? New system and new quarterback and new coaching staffs and HC. No way you make top 5! Maybe top 60.

Levis & UK should be respectable, but it's tough to see them edging out some of the teams ahead of them.

Big questions at both tackles for the Cayts - they'll be fine at both guards and center, but I don't like having to break in two new tackles at the same time. And that offense has lived and died at the line of scrimmage. I'll settle for respectable.

Spencer Rattled will have a tough time staying composed against sec defenses.

OU people were calling for his back up against non existent big12 defenses.

Every starting UGA OL would start for Tennessee. No exceptions.

Both 1st and second string RBs would start for Tennessee.

Our top 3 TEs (at least) would start for Tennessee.

We have at least one WR who would start for Tennessee.

You have a better QB.

Sounds like UT may be the one with too many questions.

Whatever helps you sleep at night. At least Bowers gets two more chances to break one off in Tennessee.

Unlike bama we have guys who can step in when we lose our top two WRs as well as the best TE room in the country. I think we'll be just fine.

Oh and our OL room is as deep as the grand canyon thank to Pitboss and Luke.

YES... there are several metrics that better capture "explosivenes" but but rather than argue (or at least that was the plan) about his vs. your interpretation of his intent, I used the data OP provided.

The real issue (I think) was that I didn't include UGA in my top 5. After looking at your schedule, UGA should move the ball easily and finish in the top 5. My only impetus for not having you there were the huge losses on defense and 15 overall to the draft not being plug-n-play replacements.

Your defense was so good it dictated the flow of a game and created opportunities for your offense, often an explosive kill shot quickly after a TO or a stop. While it doesn't drop UGA as far as it would a team like Arkansas, it's reasonable to see a falloff after losing 5 (should have been 6) in 1st round.

The good thing for UGA is that you don't have to be as good this year to end up right back where you were.

So to be clear. Your justification for expecting our offense to not be as explosive this year is due to our losses on the defensive side of the ball?

People on this forum will do damn near anything to not admit that UGA, an offense that was in the Top 10nationally in scoring and Top 5 in YPA/PPA in 2021, was any good last year and will likely be similar this year. I think it’s all due to a Stetson being our QB. For whatever reason people can’t seem to give him any credit for being a very good QB. Stats/facts/etc….nothing will deter most people here from downplaying our offense

You are exaggerating the impact of the D, and downplaying the impact of the O.

The advanced stats prove both our D and O were explosive and elite. The semi final playoff game against Michigan proved it so well.

In fact, Both were so good at explosive plays that our total O was only 25th in the nation. That’s what happens when you only need to play for 2.7 Q’s before killing clock.

A&M: QB should be improved substantially, but I don't expect a superstar at the position.

Oline should be improved, WR talent should be improved and with considerably more speed in the field, and I expect RB to get a substantial upgrade with Achane as the feature back. Spiller was a solid dependable back, but he was only as good as his oline. He didn't have the explosiveness to make things happen on his own. Achane does, and he should get his chance to prove it this year as the top guy in the backfield.

Honestly, all we need at QB is a dependable game manager who can distribute the ball reliably, and not commit multiple boneheaded turnovers a game. If one of our guys can do that, there is plenty enough talent around the QB to carry the offense. I don't expect our offense to be explosive, but it won't be the liability it was last year either.
