Not sure "coddled" is the correct word for either. "Preferential" might be a better word for ND but I do think they get a better treatment than most when they are marginal at best.
I really don't buy into the Alabama conspiracy that some do. Not sure anyone could give conclusive examples that they are "coddled". Anyone?

I think Bama wins the title as the most coddled team of all time.

Go look up Bama's record in BCS\Playoff Games the last 25 yeas. Then, do the same for ND. Despite the pitiful record in those games and most losses being blowouts ND is still coddled. ND hasn't won a National Championship since 1988 for christ sakes yet they still keep getting chance after chance.

ND.

Alabama, love or hate, has earned their place. Both historically and in the modern era.

A fool would suggest otherwise

1) I don’t necessarily agree that either team is coddled.
2) But if they are, they’ve probably earned it.
It can be argued that Bama has earned it, but ND has not, or at least not in the modern era.

Its a Tie for sure. Both are fawned over by the press and the calls during the game always seemed one sided in their favor!

1) Pretty much anything can be argued; even the most bizarre and foolish ideas.
2) I tend to agree with you on ND in the “modern era”, depending on the definition.
3) That stated, I can’t change reality, so I won’t dwell on it.

Bama, who should have received the death penalty over the Albert Means dea, but skated off light.

Do you even know what that was about?

A booster paid the kids high school coach to get him to play at Alabama, when the payoff was discovered, the kid left Alabama and enrolled at Memphis.

Alabama received a bowl ban for 2 years, 5 years' probation, and had 21 scholarships take away.

The coaches were indicted and the booster were convicted of bribery.
You think they should have gotten death penalty for that with what happened at Penn State and Michigan?

This is a fascinating response.... But is highly likely that George Wallace/ Bull Conner and the backlash against that bunch actually cost Alabama the national championship that year.

The fans of the team that's 2-13 in their last 15 games against UA thinks Bama is coddled.

What a shocker lol.

Has to be Notre Dame, until the BIG and SEC lock out ND and force them to a conference (which they would likely choose ACC) they will continue to get special treatment.

The BIG likely wont push since they partner with them.

Texas says hold my beer. Texas is sitting at 3 losses and probably 4 and yet you still see entire segments on ESPN talking about them and Arch. Texas has one Natty since 1970 (and the 1970 one is because UPI didn't rank after they got smoked in their bowl game) and they won 4 Big 12 Titles total from when they joined in '96. They actually only have 4 NC's total including the 1970 one. Yet they get at least as much love and press as Bama, ND, USC, and Michigan who have accomplished so much more. Texas dominated the SWC in the post WWII era into the 70s, that's really their resume. Other than that they have been pretty up and down.

BTW, this isn't about A&M. I realize our resume as well and understand why we get limited attention due to the past. We are a historically Top 20ish team that has had a few periods of success and have a bright future because we are now big and rich. We have a lot to earn though and so far we haven't earned shite.
