This refers to Paz getting poached by Cain. Do you guys think that Jay being asleep at the wheel was really the case? I agree that Jay has talked up Paz a lot since the end of the season but wow A&M kept this pursuit on the lowdown. No doubt Kendall Rodgers helped by sitting on this story he knew about before he broke the news

a big role indeed I could have seen him as the third starter until Moore comes around. Moore is coming off injury after all

He comes from a really good family. He’s from a small town in North La. Before him Anthony McFarland was recruited to LSU from that region of the state. He’s a hero in those parts.

You mean like using all fifteen pitchers who traveled in Atlanta to win that regional. That is coaching Skip, well-done.
Can you imagine lsu last year needing to lean on the back half of our staff in big spots for game or two on the road facing elimination? I’d rather not. Now is good time to leave this nightmare and look ahead to LSU’s 2027

This year’s catcher rotation is interesting, I’m wondering how Yamin might help provided he stays in the program. There’s been no buzz about him leaving and no buzz about us bringing in a portal catcher, but good gracious our receiving last year left much to be desired. I’d love a really good glove back there in the final innings of close games, and I don’t care if we develop one of our own into a defensive stalwart or we get one from JUCO, NAIA, D2, the Ivy League, New York City Public Schools, the Sunbelt, the SEC, or Nicaragua. Maybe defensive specialists at that position don’t want a limited role and are seeking out places where they play more than just spot duty? I don’t know the answer but in ‘27 something has to change for the better.

I was thinking about 1st base and it’s been mentioned that a rotation there would allow a handful of guys to get playing time, but before this season Jay has gone wire-to-wire that’s February to June with Morgan then Jones. Do you think that if Jay could have his way he’d want one guy to seize the position in ‘27?

Park to play 3B. That's an amazing sales job considering he's draft-eligible after next year.
Agree because among his tools, it was park’s range that has scouts really excited

How is Jonah aase’s recovery from Tommy John coming along? He's a lefty.

Maybe with his two-way days behind him Jay feels like a leap forward as a pitcher is in store?

Velasquez didn’t pitch against UNc but was warming up in the 9th in their heart breaking loss in chapel hill
Came to usc as a two-way player

Got to think Yeskie has done his homework on Velasquez

I’m pleased Hotchkiss isn’t in the SEC

I agree. I know we’ve seen the Paxton Kling trajectory and been frustrated by that, but I just don’t mind spending to keep a player with the physical attributes Patrick possesses. Seems worth waiting for, meaning that if he blooms late it will be a sight to behold

Looking at the 69 AB's from Ruckert and the 41 AB's from Patrick, would you expect in 2027 for the two of them to have about the same number of plate appearances like they did have this past season?

Project wisely mentioned that he might not want to disrupt the catcher rotation by adding a defensive catcher like Mateo Serna from Missouri, but I looked into him a little. That guy has almost a hundred starts in the last two years. Somebody is going to get a good add in Mateo Serna

For those that really know baseball, among those stats listed with each player, is there one number or ratio that you feel indicates replicable success in the SEC? What might can be improved upon and what is likely to get worse in our league? Thanks.

Not saying you’re wrong but let’s not oversimplify these decisions. In addition to the raw numbers, intangibles and potential cloud things.

On Kurland, I wonder who sought out who? I’d like to think that Jay identified in Kurland something he can finesse towards improvement.
