He was Ole Miss’s coach at the time TC was introduced to Mars. But you knew that.

Incorrect.

The rule states that no pro players may be rostered.

quote:

Effective under SEC policy, no SEC institution may have on its roster anyone who:

Previously declared for the NFL, NBA, or WNBA draft and did not appropriately withdraw.

Signed a contract with an NFL (or other pro football league), NBA/G-League, or WNBA (or affiliate) team.

Been listed on an NFL, NBA/G-League, or WNBA roster
.

LSU never rostered any.

quote:

The lawsuit was filed before LSU took any actions and they clearly had every intention of moving forward until then.

The claim that "we didn't roster" doesn't and didn't matter.

It kind of does make a difference, as to whether the rule was violated or not.

You clearly do not understand any of this and are too stubborn to learn from your repeated errors.

The minute the clock hits zero on LSU's regular season LSU goes on the offensive. Not just feduciary breaches but racketeering by SEC leadership. But maybe Jeff Landry is more of a forgive and forget type than I think he is.

That’s quite a jump to conclusions there.

Again, the SEC has no right to tell anyone (a coach, an AD, a player, a school, a media partner) that it cannot take future legal action against the league. The SEC keeps crying about its 1st Amendment rights here but doesn’t seem to care about anyone else’s Constitutional rights.

The SEC is a voluntary organization. You can just leave if you don't like the rules, rather than using the court systems to make it so the SEC can't enforce it's rules.

I'm just not going to argue the same points over and over.

I don't know what will happen, but I do know the lawsuit continues and the SEC keeps saying the same things.

Maybe they dismiss it today, I don't know. If the SEC backs down at this point then it's open season and the conference is on borrowed time.

Actually per Tom Maars the one who helped coordinate it was LSU coach lane kiffin

Chambliss filed his lawsuit months after Lane's departure, Mars did say Lane introduced the two but never said Kiffin coordinated anything.

I think it's probably more likely that Ole Miss coordinated Chambliss' lawsuit than LSU coordinated the suits of a bunch of non football players and guys who ended up at other SEC programs.

Rules that were changed after the Baton Rouge suit was filed. The SEC can’t change the rules after a suit is filed and say that the new rules have to be honored. The timeline matters.

DaeQuan Wright has testified and made public statements that Ole Miss and South Carolina contacted him with offers after the NCAA created the 5 for 5 rule. He turned them down. Where are the threats of sanctions and expulsions for those schools?

I don't blame you, you clearly have no idea what's going on and are resorting to just making shite up.

Agreed, she's about the only louisiana politician worth listening to because she says what does or what she's going to do and then does it.

The problem with using LSU as the poster child is that they never actually violated a rule and don't seem interested in admitting any wrongdoing.

Because there was no wrongdoing. Sankey thinking he had the stroke to pull this shite with LSU is not turning out how he thought it would. It can only get worse for him going forward.

LSU has zero to worry about.

Or I just find the gaslighting attempts by LSU so disgusting it's a waste of time and I'm already spending more time on the topic than I should considering nothing that is said here matters.

Right. But not the SEC. And he hadn’t signed a professional contract or played pro ball. Those are the differences yall leave out and pretend are irrelevant

Those players didn't originally sue the SEC, that only happened because the SEC created their rule.

Why do you think they're relevant?

Disagree here.

As an LSU fan I want LSU to be in the best possible environment to pursue athletic excellence.
For several decades, being a prominent member of the SEC was the clear answer to that. The SEC had become the dominant force in football. Has also become the dominant force in baseball (a smaller sport), has significantly stepped up in men's basketball, and is currently the best women's basketball conference (if South Carolina doesn't win the titles, it likely would be LSU or Texas).

The SEC has always been able to present as an apolitical entity that didn't play favorites (fanbase gripes about Bama and the REC aside ), that just allowed for the best product to be put on the field. No drama like the Big 12 with major programs bickering about shares, and eventually leaving; or the Pac 12 collapsing; or the ACC openly fighting with Fla State etc. Or the Big 10 attacking other conferences (ambushing the Pac 12, continuously fighting against the SEC).
Tennessee fought the NCAA and the SEC stayed out of it, Vandy and Ole Miss have played QBs ruled ineligible by the NCAA and the SEC stayed out of it, Auburn hired Pearl and the SEC stayed out of it, etc.

This just comes off as petty and weird, and more and more it looks like a personal thing from the commissioner. And that's not good for the conference or ANY of the members.

I'm all for this being dropped and people moving on but do all these lsu fans really believe LSU did nothing wrong? Do you truly believe LSU did not help coordinate the lawsuit against the NCAA and the sec? Meeting called to discuss potentially kicking lsu out but it was all just jealousy of LSU?

Again...

What rule was broken? We're talking about "doing wrong" correct? That implies something was actually DONE.

What was it?

No one is gaslighting you, you just have no idea what actually happened and are spewing opinions based on flawed information.

For instance, you keep insisting that LSU is attempting to keep the SEC from enforcing its rules, by way of the courts, yet LSU has filed suit against no one.

If your stance is that LSU is suing through the players as a proxy, that also doesn't work because the SEC rules didn't exist when that suit was filed.

If the SEC had told OM that TC was still ineligible regardless of the ruling against the NCAA, do you think Tom Mars would’ve just tucked his tail and not used every potential avenue to advocate for his client?

The part that y’all continue to ignore for some inexplicable reason is that the SEC treated this case differently than every other eligibility suit before and since.

Every other eligibility case was allowed to play out without direct action by the conference. Pavia, bediako, chambliss, etc couldn’t sue the SEC as the SEC neither took nor threatened to take any action against them or their chosen school following their (temporary) win against the NCAA.
