Mike Leach is the best thing in the SEC

Total bromance with this guy. Leach is must see TV. I love his press conferences
if I were a State fan I would be over the moon that he is my coach. The guy is funny, witty, decisive, innovative, smart as hell. When characters like Spurrier and Les Miles left the SEC I was bummed because I thought we only have these personalityless winning drones like Saban and Kirby, but Leach makes the SEC fun. I’d love to play for a guy like that.

I like him better when we run for 100+ a game. He is an interesting dude

He still needs at least one breakout season though. Hopefully Miss State wins oit and we get a Tennesee vs Leach SECCG.

I recall when he was at Texas Tech having success and alot of the sec fans were saying he would never make it in the sec.

I know State is the flavor de jour, but Leach hasn’t made it yet. He is 2 games above .500 and has a losing conference record in his time in Starkville. Their best win is over a team whose QB was out. Let’s see how they manage the rest of their schedule.

Leach has been a national treasure for many years. He'll always be one of the greats. He's so against the grain. Just a damn breath of fresh air.
He's the only cat that could debate someone at The Geneva Convention, or at the Roswell UFO Encounter Convention.

My all time favorite is during a presser after the game at TT and he started rambling about the players fat little girlfriends.

His record is skewed by a rough 2020. It was Year 1 of a transition from a run heavy scheme to a pass heavy scheme, there was a major culture rebuild that resulted in like 20 guys leaving the team before the end of the season, and State was playing a ton of true freshmen for a large portion of the year. Still managed to win a bowl game, though, and were competitive against very good UGA and OM teams on the road.
4-7 in 2020, but in the last two years he’s 12-7 overall and 6-5 in SEC play.

I don’t think anybody has said he has made it in the SEC yet. However, State has certainly improved from 2020. Still a work in progress. But the man has been a successful football coach for 20+ years. That is no accident.
He has a very dry sense of humor which fans in general like and he is a breath of fresh air in this time of vanilla coaches.
I don’t know what the next six games will bring but the first six games have been good outside the fourth quarter in Baton Rouge.
In my lifetime, State has never been favored in our first seven games of a season. That is a indication that the program is moving in the right direction.
First up though is a big game at Kentucky where it will be difficult to win.

Being a Bama fan I'm a Nick Saban guy but Coach Mike Leach is my favorite coach in the SEC. I'd listen to him every day if he were back on the radio or a podcast. He's Gold.

Agreed, and would be the absolute best thing for Auburn

Are Ole Miss fans still running schedule/“who y’all played???” smack this season?
Kentucky? Who the gamecocks just beat? Who else?
And we still see y’all “Ole Miss doesn’t care about Mississippi State till the last game” folks. Still see you.
