He was a coach in the NFL under Joe Brady. If this dude can call plays and scheme like Brady did in 2019 then O might have saved his job

See he is a two-time Nick Saban “Coaching Rehab Academy” alumni. Interesting . . .

Why do you need a OC and a passing game coordinator?
It made sense in 19 when Brady was the real OC but they didn't want to fire the old guy that had the "OC Title".
Is the OC going to get the passing play from the passing game coordinator and he just call the rushing plays???

O has been in touch with Joe Brady about who could be the best person to run his offense. These are clearly the guys he has recommended. There’s a decent chance Joe Brady will get a head-coaching position in the NFL. He is already scheduled to interview with three teams so far.

Quarterbacks... quarterbacks... quarterbacks...
That is why this is a good hire.

O’s chasing that 2019 vibe
I like the hires though. At least shows he learned something from the Pelini debacle.

I like it, he made Derek Carr legit when he was there.

Seems like a pretty big reach to try and recapture that Brady magic. I guess you never know, but I would not expect this to work out well.

Kinda interesting that his playing background is on defense,
I’ve always thought that would be a good thing in an O coordinator. You have the mindset of what defs are thinking as well as the knowledge of what you want to do on off in certain situations. Hopefully it’ll work out.

Yeah hiring one of the up and
coming offense minds in the NFL who worked hand in hand last year with your previous really good offensive coordinator and is apparently thought highly of by the best coach in college football is a reach lol.

Ensminger called a lot of plays in 2019, Brady came in to install the new offense and called 3rd down/redzone plays. Obviously he shared a lot with Ensminger, but Ensminger wasn't just sitting around doing nothing. He had the brunt of playcalling itself (also QB coach) while Brady was also in charge of those specific downs, help coaching WRs/TEs and coordinating passing game itself week to week.
Have to remember Brady never called a play in his life before coming to LSU. He had never been an OC, so they just weren't going to hand over the entire duties to him. In a perfect world I think the plan was to have Ensminger retire after that season or like he did this past season and give Brady full control.

Mangas spent 2 years under Brady as well. 1 as an analyst at LSU in 2019 where he sat next to him in the booth and then this year in Carolina, so he will have gotten to know him well. Brady took him from LSU to Carolina with him.
