You mean when he was your interim OC for a grand total of like 6 games in 2008.

Wow.

So after all of these years of Ensminger running the O a certain way, he had a come to the light moment all of a sudden? He couldn't watch other O's and copy their plays? You are naive as hell if you think he will totally change what he has been doing since the early 80's. Brady game planned those passing plays against those D's..........not Ensminger.

If you did something one way your whole life and then someone showed you something new that worked 1000000000000x better

You wouldn’t stick with the new way? You act like that’s crazy.

LSU's offense national ranking since Orgeron has been the coach.
2016 - 59th
2017 - 54th
2018 - 69th
2019 - 1st

I really can't find an outlier here.

You're going to count a year when he was in an interim role?

Seems dumb.

They were 38th in 2018 by the way.

He coached 8 games in 2016, but you can remove that year if you like.

No you were not 38th in 2018.

Can't put a square peg into a round hole...

Although I highly doubt O goes to the Stoops plan.

LSU going back to the old offense
Yep. It’s back to the old offense for LSU. Believe it.
8-4 every year.

ETA: after reading the responses, I guess I have to explain that my post was completely sarcastic

If you think Ed O is going to allow the offense to return to that shitshow, I don’t know what to tell you.

And even WITH that "old" offense, Burrow threw for over 3,000 yards in 2018 - and an LSU (then) bowl game record of 394 yards vs the Central Florida Blind-Siders.

But no, with a Bert Jones-esque arm at QB, 3 top RBs, 4 top WRs, and the top TE in the nation coming in next year, I don't see any "old" LSU offense returning.

You're going off of Total Offense, I was going off of Scoring Offense.

I just don't see Ensminger changing what he has done for decades. When LSU is in a tight game, he will do what he is most comfortable doing.

So.. throwing it deep? Because that’s what he’s most comfortable doing. They call him “slinger” for a reason.

Let me tell you a little something about those eight games in '16. Once SE took over the play calling LSU set either a school or individual offensive record in most every game. Same players just a little different play calling from earlier in the season.

As for going forward. After the bama game in '18 EdO told SE he needed to go to a spread type offense. Numbers increased the last few games of the season.

Brady is brought in. Tigers had all spring, summer and preseason workouts to finetune the offense. Tigers offense will remain the same going forward. Nothing like anything pre '19.

Ensminger did call most of the plays last year.

If Ensminger was the real brains behind last years offense, why did y'all need Brady? Seems like a wasted hire.

Brady was running the offense last year. Don't kid yourself.

That said, if Orgeron recognized he needed to change the offense two years ago, then he hasn't forgotten it. he will bring in another guy to do what Brady did. The question is, if the new guy will be able to do it as well. Shoot. As good as their offense was last year it doesn't have to be as good. Just so they don't totally revert. I think LSU will be okay. It's a matter of how much they regress. They are bound to regress a little bit.

Brady was simply brought in to present some new concepts and coach the receivers, thats all.

It's odd to see an Aub discussing this when their offense has struggled under CGM for years.

Okay. He just coached the receivers and presented new concepts.

I mean, as much as I hate to say it...the Auburn fan is right. Brady made the offense go. But like I said...Orgeron will find somebody. He didn't suddenly forget why he changed the offense.

Amazing. During the season all of you LSU fans were giving Brady all the credit. Now that he left it was actually Ensminger.

You guys sound so stupid (Envious)! Ensminger just started calling plays when O became coach so the decades comment is way off, but keep on talking about things you have no clue about.
Dude, look up some info on Ensminger. His OC experience goes back decades. this is why you shouldn't call other people stupid when you're clueless.

I mean dont take it from me

quote:

So, no, when head coach Ed Orgeron mentioned to him after last season that he was thinking of opening up the offense, jumping in with both feet into the spread, the up-tempo and the run-pass options, he didn't have to ask Ensminger twice.
"Oh, no, I wanted it," Ensminger said. "I had been wanting it. I knew we needed it. It was just … how do we do it? How do we get there?"
Ensminger has been a part of many high-powered, wide-open offenses.
"But I didn't know what an RPO was," he said of those days.
Enter Brady, then an "assistant to an assistant" with the New Orleans Saints, who went to Baton Rouge to give the Tigers a tutorial and famously ended up with a job offer.
"I was just very impressed with how he presented it all, "Ensminger said. "Coach (Orgeron) said, ‘What do you think about Brady?' I said, ‘Right now, go get him tomorrow.'"
