I realize this isnt the best indicator but Myles ran 188 times for 1141 yards and 23 touchdowns in high school.

Those LSU teams ran the ball. LSU never has elite tackles. They usually have some road graders that can move people. They always struggle in obvious passing downs though.

That's was always the difference between Bama and LSU. Bama could hold up against the rush and LSU couldn't.

This year Burrow was Houdini and escaped probably 50+ sacks.

I just don't see Ensminger changing what he has done for decades

He was a TE coach for the last decade

That’s because Les Miles recruited nothing but guards. It worked for his offensive philosophy, but it was an obvious weakness when Ensminger started moving towards a 50/50 run/pass ratio.

Over the last couple of years, Orgeron has placed more emphasis on recruiting “true” offensive tackles. Of course, it’s not easy because highly rated natural tackles are few and far between, and it’s a position that’s lacking among LA recruits. It’s still a spot where we lack depth.

I do think we’ll see a huge improvement on the outside of the OL over the next 2-3 years though.

He has been an OC in every decade going back to the 80's. His first was '84. Oddly enough, he has never been OC at any one place more than three years.

Everyone keeps forgetting O just completed his third year. Dude has really just now got his guys in place.

Whether you see it or not is immaterial. That was the company line from head coach on down.

Totally understand about calling a play early in game to see how defense will defend it.

Dude has been a full time OC for all of 7 seasons outside of LSU and 3 seasons at major programs.

The man has clearly said that he preferred being a position coach.

If you researched it, you'd see he's been at a lot of places with little talent and still fared somewhat decent.

His promotion to OC during the '16 season was his first OC job since he left Clemson after the '99 season. So NO he hasn't been an OC in every decade since the 80's.

Except he was an OC at Auburn for a short time in 2008.

We're gonna count someone being an interim OC for 6 games?

Do you have any idea how inexperienced that '18 offense was? Three returning starters, two OL and TE.
Top returning RB had 100 yds rushing. No RB on the roster had scored a TD in college yet.
Leading returning receivers were two TEs.
QB with NO starting experience that had only been on campus a few weeks when fall camp started.

That was LSUs returning "O" for '18. Kind of amazing they were even average.

I dont usually tend to count interim years.

If I gave you a half built house and you finished it but then the next day it all fell in you wouldnt want people saying you built a shite house.

If a person's title is "OC", then I count it. To each his own.

To each his own but if the players (who you likely haven't recruited) have practiced an entire offseason and played several games all while learning someone else's plays, terminology, and style, you're not going to be able to change much in the middle of the season.

It'd be like you having someone raise your kids till they were 15 to be lazy bums then you trying to make productive citizens out of them.
