LSU has had good classes, but nobody has had that many top 100 kids.

Not sure if you are a baseball newb or if you were around in the early 2000s. At the end of Skip/beginning of Smoke years we probably signed more than this due to the recruiting strategy of one Turtle Thomas. The kids never made it to campus due to being drafted. This recruiting strategy led to us getting knocked down a few pegs in the early 2000s.

There was no Perfect Game or D1 to go off of but if you look at the MLB Draft I can assure you LSU has signed classes like this before.

I'm honestly not trying to be a dick but saying that "nobody has had that many top 100 kids" is simply not true. We have. The difference now is we can pay to get them to campus.

This is where their NIL money goes. They bought players last year that weren't just the good, they bought All Americans from their current schools. Now they are offering high school stars more than they would make their rookie seasons in the professional ranks. They are using the portal and NIL to kill it in baseball.

So salty. A lot of guys woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning and can’t seem to take a compliment. As someone who loves baseball it’s definitely impressive what they’re doing.

With NIL, it's better to be at a program like LSU for 2 or 3 years vs being in the minors for that time.

Better facilities, better travel schedules, and you likely make more money. Better publicity too if you're on the right team.

The negative is you have to go to school but you could also get a degree.

Honestly a smart move. Why be second fiddle in football and MBK when you can rule the secondary sports?

LSU has more baseball collective donors than men's hoops donors

Plus LSU has Marucci in it's backyard headed up by former LSU players and it's a natural NIL deal when those players get drafted and go pro and use Marucci gear

I understand most people don’t follow LSU baseball recruiting, but for the past 20 years players have signed with us only to use us as leverage in contract negotiations. It gives them a soft landing if the negotiations fall through.

But a lot of what we have now is due to Covid. The evaluations of kids was fricked up, the draft was only 5 rounds, and you had Covid years.

Plus the draft was shortened to 20 rounds in 2019 (which we are back at now) so this has more kids going to college.

Throw in NIL where these kids can make some money and can postpone having to live a shitty life on the road in the minors, and you get to where we are now.

Not at all a baseball newb, I stated since they have been keeping track of it.

Perfect game goes back to 2011. 9 top 100 to UF
2012 6 ucla
2013 3 UF
2014 3 Miami
2015 4 Vandy
2016 5 Ole Miss
2017 5 Vandy
2018 5 Vandy
2019 4 Vandy
2020 4 5 teams tied
2021 5 UF
2022 6 LSU
2023 7 Arkansas
2024 13 LSU

Not sure why the tigers are getting defensive about it. Yall are acting like Jimbo when people talked about the aggie nil.

Can clearly see that nobody since they have been keeping up with it has come close.

Not at all. I am ok with LSU winning all of them if it keeps Arkansas and Tenn from ever getting one.

Vandy had the real advantage which circumvented the scholarship rules and allowed their players to get full rides.
What NIL has done has allowed LSU to supplement the lack of scholarship money they can allocate each player and make up the difference with NIL

It is very similar to what happened to LSU when TOPS came out. Huge shot in the arm to the lsu program.

Texas, not Florida.

Texas has been one of the few big universities that has cared about baseball. They're rightfully proud of that.

But- as I said after it was announced they would join the SEC- even THEY were going to be shocked at just how much LSU puts into it.
