The Prep kid I'm sure is going pro along with many others in that class.

But that still is impressive and LSU is kicking some rear with that NIL money no doubt.

TOPS did help LSU with the instate guys that qualified for it and when the rosters were unlimited but now with the smaller rosters and the scholarship limits in place from the NCAA it took away any real advantage especially when it came to recruiting out of state guys to the class.

Back in the Bertman days LSU would get those LA kids on Tops keeping them from other schools and eventually some became pretty big contributors but once they capped the rosters that advantage went away.

Tulane had similar advantages to Vandy and they were able to pull some top players away from LSU back in the day as well.

By hiring a coach for like $75M guaranteed? Not to mention he's won everywhere he's been

But yes Jay Johnson is absolutely mopping up recruiting, and will be able to get more of these highly rated kids to campus with NIL these days than you would have in the past.

$75m guaranteed? That doesn’t sound real smart…

No melt here.

Just reality. They all won't make it Baton Rouge when the majors come calling. :)

LSU has been baseball royalty since the Skip Bertman era. Even if it didn't always translate to nattys, we've been a consistent leader in attendance and usually sit near the top of baseball rankings. 7 CWS titles puts LSU in 2nd place all time to USC, but their titles were mostly in the 60's and 70's. LSU also travels better than any team to the CWS. Omaha is considered LSU's north campus.

Texas also has 7 NC's (edit: 6) and has been to Omaha 36 times to your 19

Football was awful in the 90s & much of the fanbase transferred that energy to baseball. The emphasis on baseball took off & never looked back, despite the resurgence of the football team.

Yea, a lot of these kids use their college “commitment” as leverage for larger signing bonuses. Smart thing to do in their situations. I would expect 6 or 7 of LSU’s 13 to make it to campus, which would be phenomenal considering that 6 or 7 has only happened twice.

If you think LSU is saying f it in football, you're mind-numbingly stupid. How we do in baseball has absolutely ZERO effect on what we do in football. Really weak and sad troll.

You're right. I've been used to us being tied for too long. Forget how y'all stomped everyone this year.
