Here is a plausible scenario:

Players sue the SEC and local state judge grants a TRO in favor of the players. That isn’t a win in court it is temporary.

Let’s assume LSU plays the players.

2 options are presented:

SEC wins the case and the court have solidified the SEC’s bylaws. LSU then gets handled penalties. Lane gets 6 game suspension, $100M fine (half of athletic budget), and can’t vote on business decision for the SEC.

Or

Players win the case.

2 options from here. Then the SEC appeals and there is a different judge. Potentially federal.

Players win and go about their merry way

Or

SEC wins and hands down punishment before the 27 season.

None of those options seem worth it with the stakes being so high.

Tiger rant has never been more entertaining. They really think this is going to work out for them.

Do this with teams that currently have professional athletes listed on their roster.

Lets not speculate something that has not happened yet. Unless they signed a contract I am unaware of.

This doesn't change anything for Lane, LSU or the fans. It's some great entertainment though, right?

If a court grants a TRO against the SEC the SEC will not be able to penalize the coach or institution as the players are eligible in the SEC at that moment even if temporarily, they can only be punished if players play if no permanent injunction is granted and the school plays them anyway,. Cannot do retroactive punishment.

and to answer your question, do I think it is worth the squeeze? Maybe not, but at this point we are so far down the rabbit hole whether we backoff or move forward it wont make a difference to anywone on the outside, might as well get some players out of it if we can

Wright got a 20k signing bonus when he signed his professional contract. What are you talking about?

Right but it will be finished even if in 2 years and the SEC will punish LSU for playing the players. You realize this right?

By this logic, Ole Miss will be punished for playing Trinidad if he loses his case.

If they had new rules like they put out yesterday you would be absolutely correct. But TC never signed a pro contract or was on a pro roster.

A TRO is granted for a limited time, then there is a ruling on whether it will be permanent

Teams can play those players under TRO and the SEC cannot punish them and cannot retroactively punish them if permanent TRO is not granted

They can only punish if a school plays them outside of a RO and the punishment cant be retroactive to a time the players were eligible

The SEC would just have it removed to federal court and ask the court to dissolve or modify the TRO.

Doesn't matter, he's ineligible per the NCAA and is playing under a TRO.

Those are injunctions against the NCAA. this is against the SEC in which LSU is a voluntary member. Completely different animal. SEC would be punishing LSU not the players.

Well when the SEC puts on rules in that situation then we can have that conversation.
