Tennessee could have a 6-4-7 defense and still finish dead last in the East next year.

You can’t even have an honest/legitimate discussion about sports on here any more. The trolls and alters have really done a number to this board.

I don't think these sorts of transitions are nearly as difficult as they used to be. Teams have become so multiple in scheme and personel there is at least general knowledge and personel to man most any of the modern defenses.

Tennessee played in a 5-2-4 under Pruitt most of the time and couldn’t cover a slant last year. The 4-2-5 seems to make sense for the new pass oriented SEC.

I’m not trolling. Tennessee’s offense will be that bad.

That's for sure. Pruitt was putting 4 on the LOS out of his 3-4 base. The gap scheme maybe the biggest difference. The reality is that most teams in the SEC are going to stay in nickel and dime anyway.

Based on their past will it be zone or man pass coverage with these new guys? Some of both?

The 5-2 is the base defense that a lot of Pee-Wee league football teams run. By the time they reach middle school, it falls by the wayside for this very reason.

If he could go back to 250ish and actually play middle LB and not drop into coverage absolutely. But at 230ish and chasing guys in coverage? Not as much. He is a guy you want on your team and is a great leader but he was too far out of his comfort zone dropping into coverage.

Crouch and likely Toototo be at Tennessee for Spring ball is huge. Finding them roles they can excel at in the new system could get one or both to stay.

Seeing T Baron as a stand up DE on one side and Crouch on the other looks solid on paper. Add in Banks and TooTo in the middle and that’s a decent group. 6 guys to rotate DT/NG roles. Harris and Mincey subbing in at DE. That’s a solid front 6 with decent coaching.

This is exactly what coach Saban told his dad and Henry T. Wait out the one-year transfer rule without penalty. Otherwise, it's not an advantage to sit. Henry apparently wants to go pro after his Junior year.

In the last 10 seasons, Tennessee has finished below South Carolina 5 times and below Vanderbilt 4 times in the SEC East.

Never say never.

For fricks sake,he ran a 3-4...much like
Multiple P5 and NFL teams and the same defense Bama won the NC with in 2017.

Say what you want about CJP but he knows his defense.
