I bet they do. Why would Clemson want in? They are most guaranteed to make the playoffs every season in the ACC

BREAKING: Clemson and Florida State have reached out to the SEC about joining the conference, per @MarcRyanOnAir

This is the reply to that thread on Twitter:

The SEC is concerned that streaming numbers for Clemson+Florida State don't bring what Oklahoma+Texas do.

Notre Dame is the only "free agent" left that would "add to the pot."

The checks are relative to success within the conference, and on the national stage. Having an opportunity to compete for 1st place in a lesser conference can lead to higher dollars than you'd get being the whipping boys of the SEC.

Vandy, Ky, and the others know they are not competing for conference honors anywhere. Not in football.

And the conferences split the tv package equally. Vandy gets what we get except for a small bit of bowl/playoff money.
They are there for the money.

This is what Sankey is going for. I'm not sure what will happen to OSU, PSU and Wisconsin. Are we really headed for a semi pro league that will include Vanderbilt but not those three?

They will setup to be the best 4 teams at the end of season playing in a Sec championship game.

1 vs 4
2 vs 3

College football premier league. Finish in the bottom 3 get relegated, different tiers.

I joked about Fla st, Clemson, ga tech, and Baylor joining the SEC this weekend. Just because they are schools that culturally fit.

You act like there aren't other teams out there that could form a conference that would be pretty damn good. Would the SEC be better? Sure. But they already currently are. Why should they stop striving to be the best of the best?

If they are going to accept FSU, Clemson, Ohio State and Michigan as the tumors have it; they aren’t trying to form a super conference. They are forming a super league,

I don’t see this happening.

It would require going to 20 teams.

The SEC old guard would feel threatened.

The SEC is basically going to take over the NCAA

There have been only 6 teams in football in the SEC since 1976 that have had any realistic prospects of even winning the conference. But other schools, not in the Big 6 have had some success in other sports. Adding more competitive football schools doesn’t really change anything for the bottom six from what has been, except more money. I can’t see them leaving just because of football where they haven’t had success anyway, but get plenty of money.

Would prefer to have a “East” winner and a “West” winner. Don’t have them play each other and you almost for sure get 2 teams in the playoffs. Go to a 8 team format with 2 play in games.

No need to play non-SEC schools.

It’s the future of college sports.

I guess frick historical rivalries as well as Ohio state, Michigan, Oregon, and USC. I actually like playing these teams OOC or in the playoffs/bowls.

Playing the same 20 teams in a cycle is going to get old. It’s one thing to have 8 conference games but having rotating out of conference games as well as post season from a much larger pool keeps things fresh.

One super conference with 18-20 teams won’t do that. It’s going to get old.

FIFY

The Big Ten will add a few teams and maybe the PAC-12 will do the same. If each go to 16 teams, that will be 48 total. Those teams will break away from the NCAA and form its own division, and the playoff will be from those 48 teams.

Hopefully, any OOC games will be just from those 48 teams.

I also wonder what FSU brings to the table.
Some additional tv viewers in Fla., but they haven't been a great football program in a while.
