Why are so many people surprised by this? It was known the super conferences were coming since the last realignment. We will ultimately end up with 3-4 super conferences when it's all said and done. SEC is just leading the charge.

Yep. Get ready for multiple “mulligan games” in the playoffs.

1) Add Clemson & FSU
2) Resign from NCAA
3) SEC Champion IS National Champion
No need to play non-SEC schools.
It’s the future of college sports.

With Texas and Oklahoma joining, and now some other high profile schools seeking to join, I keep wondering if some of the current schools are going to seek greener pastures. The opportunity being vacated by these schools has got to be enticing for the likes of USCe, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Mizzou, etc. I just don't see how we maintain 16, possibly 18, teams. Especially since some programs with inevitably get left behind.

Definition of super conference?
A conference with 16 teams or a conference with a plethora of the best teams?
I don’t think taking the cream from conferences and putting them all in the SEC is what most had in mind. You?

Schools aren’t leaving the SEC for a smaller check. That isn’t happening.

This would have to kill a 12 team playoffs. 8 of the teams would be SEC.
Add USC, Oregon, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, and Wisconsin to get to 24. Break into 4 divisions of 6 teams. Have a 4 (or maybe 6) team playoff and declare the winner the national champion. At that point who cares about the NCAA.

If your company hires 20 new employees, which will result in bringing in tons more money, thus giving you a huge raise, would you turn around and quit to go work at McDonald's?
Because you are suggesting that some of these schools will go work at McDonalds

The checks are relative to success within the conference, and on the national stage. Having an opportunity to compete for 1st place in a lesser conference can lead to higher dollars than you'd get being the whipping boys of the SEC.
It's well known that the ACC and (formerly) the Big 12 have an easy road to the promised land in the most lucrative sport. Seems like a pretty good opportunity to me.
It makes sense for high profile schools to want to join the SEC. They think they can compete and thus bring in higher dollars. Makes little sense, to me at least, for weaker programs.

You think the tv money is taken and given to only certain teams?

Is Fl. St. worthy? They are no longer looked at as an elite program...
But regardless, this crushes the ACC...

You act like there aren't other teams out there that could form a conference that would be pretty damn good. Would the SEC be better? Sure. But they already currently are. Why should they stop striving to be the best of the best?

No. I'm talking about additional dollars that flow in from winning championships.

This other big schools don't want to be on the outside looking in

, No way any other power 5 could compare the the SEC
There won't be a Power 5 if this happens. The Big XII is dead in the water and this move would effectively do the same to the ACC.

I think Sweetbriar is available as well.
