re: For 13 million I expect playoffs

Cignetti ruined this concept for everyone. If he can go to the playoff in year 1 at Indiana, then it becomes a realistic expectation at a place like LSU

Go look at Indiana’s schedule in 2024. You can’t say that concept is ruined when you use an example of a team that’s best win was against 5 loss Michigan. If the 24 Indiana team plays the 25 Indiana schedule, they aren’t a playoff team. It was the perfect storm.
Not to take away what that dude has done there. He’s been incredible

Is Prairie View a SEC caliber team?

No.

Hope that helps.

There might not be a whole lot McMahon can do about it at this point, but they need to start finding ways to create turnovers. Teams like vandy and bama are going to eat our lunch like Texas tech did.

I was able to watch. I can see the box score, but it really isn’t telling me the story of what was going wrong. Did you watch? What is your synopsis?
While I agree we might need some depth at RB, I don’t think we need to be a big spender in the RB department.

I can tell you that we have good point guard but theirs was better, he was very impressive and while I really like our guy - theirs could do everything ours could

Yeah, he’s good. Maybe DJ didn’t have the best game but I’m glad we got him. but I also think the defense was sold out to not let topping beat us until it was too late with our offense playing the way it was.

This actually happened at the start and they got off to a really big lead if I recall correctly

Yeah, they started hot, but they cooled off at the end of the half. We never seized opportunities to make runs. McKinnon was pretty bad all around. If he’s not scoring, you can’t have him on the floor sucking at defense too.

I didn’t see the post game, but I’m guessing your summation of his comments are taking a little artistic liberty. Either way, Texas tech is a good team. They would beat us under most circumstances. It looked uglier because we played poorly. Texas tech beating duke makes us look no better or worse. But I agree, the schedule we have played has done us no favors.

It’s hard to follow the point you are making. But you are saying Texas tech is clearly better than we are then I agree.

re: MBB: LSU 78 vs Southeastern 65 - FINAL

Probably so. We had single digit turnovers and shot over 50% from the field. but the game pace was fairly slow, and we just looked lackluster.

That was probably the worst basketball of McMahon's tenure in the second half. Team did not look engaged at all.
they were incredibly sluggish. It’s one you have to see to appreciate. Because the box score won’t tell the story.
Maybe, I don’t know him personally. Frank was a well liked guy by the players, so it doesn’t seem outside of the realm of possibility. He’s from southeast Arkansas, less than 2 hours from ole miss.
Thought he would be pretty good. Got stuck out of position in a bad situation as a true freshman. He’ll probably be a good pickup for whoever gets him in the long run.

re: What is the story on Zipper

Posted by Mats86 on 12/16/25 at 3:35 pm to
I think zipper is a little bit turnover prone. He’s a great shooter, but he seems a little lost on both sides of the court at times. Not particularly good cutter or finisher yet. I think him and Carter are sharing the role and Carter just looks more comfortable at this point. I think zipper is still acclimating to the team and American basketball as a whole.

re: SMU is a good win

Yeah, it’s 9-9 but I will say torvic prioritizes efficiencies. Which isn’t always the best for actually predicting outcomes. Sometimes individual matchups matter more.
As far as I have seen torvic updates within hours of the game, just like kenpom.i believe It started the season predicting 5-13

When I’m trying to lean away from my own bias, espn matchup predictor along with Bart torvic usually can at least give me some sort of confirmation. ESPN’s matchup predictor last I looked at it on Saturday after the win has lsu more likely to win 7 conference games. Bart torvic predicted a 9-9 conference record. Of course you can’t predict injuries or the effect of momentum or co fence a team has effecting future results. But right now analytics predict us at or slightly below .500 fwiw

re: That was a good damn win against SMU

Posted by Mats86 on 12/14/25 at 8:35 pm to
First conference game against A&M is probably one of those flex games that make or break the season. A&M is probably one of the bottom 4 teams in conference, but not so incompetent that playing at their place is a gimme win. If we win, that’s a good step.
Never even coached a game at lsu and he’s the greatest hire huh.
Nope. SMU is exactly the type of team we should be playing more of in the OOC. And I like that it was a neutral site game. Because that increases the chance of SMU staying a quad 1 win. I’m just saying they aren’t top third of the ACC in my opinion.
Crazy how much these guys move around these days

re: So confused about MBB

Posted by Mats86 on 12/14/25 at 12:47 am to
I’m not as big of a believer in SMU. We’ve got to do a better job scheduling in the OOC schedule. I like that we played them in a “neutral site”. Which will increase the value of the win. I think SMU is in the 4th tier of the ACC. Witch is a bubble team. Around .500 in conference. 19-20 wins.
