We really don't know much about them.

They scored more points in 4 games than anyone in the history of the SEC. I'll hear arguments for LSU offense being an unknown quantity if we can confirm that LSU also played the worst collection of defenses in the history of the SEC in their first 4 games.

I get the weak opponent argument, but there is context being left out here. Nobody has ever seen an offense this potent in this league. Ever. We probably have a pretty good idea of what they are about when accounting for that.

Well that’s pretty dumb considering we’re specifically discussing defenses.

Quoting half a sentence to try and hide your stupidity is cringe worthy. Just FYI.

Calm down, Boudreaux.
Now we've got your blood pumping, go on out and have yourself a good day!

You’re using 3+ emojis per post but I’m the one who needs to calm down.

Nailed it! Congrats on the cajunbama level troll.

open field tackle a little better

You kind of have that ability or you don't at this level. Being a good open field tackler is half technique and half will. I don't see that miraculously improving as the open field runners ratchet up in ability. Alabama specifically has the most dangerous collection of space players in the country. Harris is starting to hit his stride in the running game and LSU couldn't tackle him last year.

I think LSU will find some success moving the ball against Alabama between the 20's by taking advantage of the young linebackers- but as good as the receivers have been for LSU this season- attacking Alabama down the field on the perimeter is not going to be easy. The corners are both 6'2" physical players and they've both done a really good job this season. The safeties and linebackers have both given up some big plays though. I see a 45-21 type of game unfolding right now with Alabama pulling away in the second half. A missed tackle in the secondary against this crew is 6 points

It's not that but, you guys are not even consistent year to year on here. What was posted every hour by LSU fans last year until we met in November "Bama hasn't played anyone" or look at the passing defense Bama has faced. Now it's we need to Grade LSU differently threads from the same folks.

Yeah and we were told it didn’t matter, the offense was too good. Now we’re supposed to ignore how good LSU has looked because they haven’t played anyone.

Long story short, this cuts both ways hoss.

Can't wait to see the insane amount of targeting calls against LSU in the Auburn game.

REC gonna have the whole defense suspended for 11/9.

All's fair in the SECW

I literally just addressed this. Acting like LSU posters are the only inconsistent ones here is laughable.

I don't think you understand "context"

The context is that you have faced 3 pass defenses in the bottom 10, and an FCS school. You don't know if your offense is more "potent" because plenty of teams in the past have called off the dogs early in games. Some intentionally used easier games to work on personnel or establish a new wrinkle or potentially fix an issue (like the running game).

So, for context to your statement, Alabama averaged 53.75 points within their first four games last year (to LSU's 57.8)

They played 3 P5 schools and 1 G5 school, with pass defenses ranked #40, #11, #111, and #98.
LSU has played 2 P5 schools, 1 G5 school and 1 FCS school, with pass defenses ranked 123rd, 122nd, 110th in FCS, and 128th.

LSU will have plenty of time to prove themselves against a good defense. Until then, though - declaring themselves the most potent offense EVER in the league?

Cart, horse.

It’s actually pretty entertaining watching them talk about beating bama in September, losing to them, being sad about it for a few weeks, finishing the season somewhat strong, being somewhat humble during the summer, having one good game to start the season, and then them going full circle about beating bama again. It’s a pretty funny cycle I Must admit

You just pretty much described every fan base in the world. I literally hear this same thing from every fan of an undefeated team in September, including UGA fans, but especially Aggie fans.

Is LSU's defense as young as Alabama's? I ask because I honestly don't know, not a troll attempt here. I know that Alabama's defense is mostly young and very thin on the front 7, so any more injurious could prove disastrous. I know both teams' defenses aren't up to par with their standards, thus far in the season. Bama's got a good amount of talent on the defensive side of the ball, but waiting to see how these young players develop over the season. I'm not exactly a huge fan of Pete Golding's play calling thus far either, a little to conservative, but then again I understand if you've got young guys you can't take a lot of risks blitzing non-stop.

If both teams offenses keep clicking and the defenses keep improving, this should be a great matchup come November. It's the first time in a while as a Bama fan I have to admit the LSU game makes me a little nervous.
