Jimbo’s terminology and system.

Why the hell would he do that with his job in the line? Maybe he just wanted the buy out.

Probably easier that one person learn something new than the entire team and staff, but I’m here for shite On Jimbo Parade, so whatever works for you.

Wrong. It was obvious that’s what was going on, and it was infuriating.

Jimbo only hired BP bc he was all but forced into doing so. He clearly wasn’t interested in letting go of the offensive reigns. He got in the way of himself more than any coach I’ve ever seen.

Petrino was a fall guy and everyone knew it from his opening interview this summer and when the same vanilla offense marched out onto the field every week. It’s not anyone’s way but Jimbo’s. Petrino took a paycheck to buy Jimbo another year. It worked.

I honestly don’t think his ego allowed him to think his job was really on the line.

Nick saban requires this... As said, it's easier for one adult to learn new terminology than 50+ kids

Petrino took the opportunity to get back into big time college football. And it paid off. He's back in the club now. Initial shock of his return is in the past, and he's back in Fayetteville.

He was never gunning for Jimbo's job. He was gunning for Pittman's. A&M just helped get him in position. Jimbo could have paid him $1, and he would have taken it.

I would agree more except the new guy was brought in because the previous system didn't work at all.

I never understood infatuation with Petrino. I think he’s solid but not a difference maker. most of his success was tied to talent at QB position. Without that he’s above average. Belichik got a lot of praise but has struggled post brady. Success of this hire comes down to who they get at QB.

I wish I was smart enough to be a CEO or dumb enough to be Jimbo. Either way a golden parachute.

One huge difference, Saban wasn't running an antiquated offense that literally no one could digest and/or they became mechanical when they even got close.

It’s like that with most coaches, especially if it’s an offensive minded coach. The new guy has to learn the overall terminology so the entire staff and players don’t have too memorize all new play calls. Then they add their variations and tags to the play calls.
