This is the entire point. The SEC retroactively made rules after.
The players at the center of this have remaining eligibility, it was the NCAA that screwed them over and then the SEC a few weeks ago is attempting to slam the door shut. So the players are suing saying they deserve an extra year (sounds familiar to Ole Miss fans?)
Even if what the OP says is true (unproven), neither Kiffin nor the players were even breaking a rule at the time

The same back to you where's your evidence that Lane or LSU reached & colluded with these players? Is there 0% chance that they felt they were screwed out of their 5th year then when the writing was on the wall they were going to make the NFL roster they filed suit like all of the other players?

You realize thoes allegations are from unnamed sources in a CBS report right? The complaint from the SEC only mentions that article not anything more factual.
Not to be political but it's the same thing they did with Trump's Russian collusion. An article got written about possible collusion from unnamed sources, the FBI wrote in a memo that there was an article out there, and then an article was written saying the FBI reported in a memo about Russian collusion. It was circular.

You mean guys that went to mini camps, got paid a daily per form, got meals, flights paid for. Got NFL coaching and training for a week. Got to practice against former and current nfl players. Those NFL players?
Because a few SEC teams have those but they not on LSU….
