if a college player making 1 million a year in NIL transfers to another college team for 2 million, you're telling me he's not a pro athlete? Oh, but the school isn't paying him. Well, the school's proxies are paying him! same damn thing.
the fact that we're arguing about what constitutes professionalism is the tell that it is not well defined.
I will agree with the SEC (although noting the members need to define it) with the exception of this year because of the 5 for 5 rule. this is why i believe sankey is a blockhead. He should have compromised and never blown this thing up.

All the player gets in the preseason is meals, travel, and per diem, the same as the OTA / minicamp players.
In the rules put out by the SEC, the SEC did not specify professional contract with NFL team and just said contract with NFL team.
Legally speaking, whatever agreements / waivers signed by players to participate in OTAs / minicamps are contracts.
The easiest courses of action would have been for the SEC/NCAA to not allow anyone that participated in NFL activities to get a 5th year or to allow everyone the opportunity and set some sort of official window to declare to go back for 5th year, but they chose the absolute dumbest way to go about it.

You can explain this over and over again but some LOLSU fans are either to ignorant to understand what you are saying or just want to try and keep poking the same holes in your facts that you have already plugged. It is the only thing they have to stand on at this point.

Some UDFA do get signing bounses. That would make them ineligible. Most only get to keep that salary if they make the 53 man roster. Neither LSU player got money, or no more than the mini camp players.
It’s funny the idiots that post on here about what they think they know. But really know very little and just go by what they heard. Pretty much like the SEC….

are you trying to say that players like Chambliss weren’t told to litigate their stance against the NCAA by their teams?
and even if what you are “guessing” is true, the SEC adopted the rule on August 26 2026, so what rule would Kiffin have been breaking?
to sum up your argument - you are guessing that Kiffin did something that every other coach does in transfer portal era and wasn’t breaking any established rule at the time.

LSU hasn’t won. The SEC hasn’t won. The NCAA hasn’t won. Lawyers are involved, lawsuits are flying, and now one of the biggest programs in college football is potentially facing expulsion from the SEC. This will probably get dragged through courtrooms, compromises will be made, and everyone will eventually declare some version of victory. But when it’s all over, follow the money. Because this stopped being about amateur athletics a long time ago. Oh.. and stop reading the news and weather from Facebook. Learn to read and go cut some grass. Enjoy your week.

All I have learned is that an LSU degree really is completely worthless. These idiots are so emotionally invested they will do or say anything to protect a local school in the wrong.

I’ll only reply to one since it seems the tigahs have turned into mockingbirds all of a sudden…. IT WAS A LEGIT QUESTION, I’d like to know if you or anyone else knows the opposite, we’re not lawyers sitting in a courtroom. I could be wrong but I don’t think Sankey will take this to a federal courtroom without evidence.
