First stop with the Sankeys a bitch.. and we don’t have pro players…and umm.. we just love lame kidding …
This is the part that most of you people are missing.. try and keep up…
Lane Kiffin didn’t simply find some obscure loophole in the rulebook and quietly take advantage of it. The allegation is that LSU and Kiffin were actively reaching out to players who had already moved on to the NFL—or their representatives—and….. wait for it…:
“ encouraging them to pursue litigation challenging the rules that prevented them from returning to college football.”
It’s giving the gun to someone else who commits the murder. We’ve all seen enough first 48.
Think about how insane that sentence is.
He perused NFL players.. ncaa said no.. can’t do that… and he tried to get them to sue and take them to court.
We’re talking about players who left college, entered the NFL world, signed CONTRACTS. with or spent time with NFL teams, and now a college coach is trying to bring them back to college football. “The TEXAS Kid didn’t signed a contract!!!
And now the situation has escalated to the point where the SEC has sued LSU and is considering whether LSU should even remain a member of the conference.
At some point this stops being about whether Lane Kiffin is “innovative” or whether LSU technically found a legal argument that might work. There has to be a line between college football and professional football.
NIL already changed the sport. The transfer portal changed it. Revenue sharing changed it. Fine. But if we reach the point where college programs are recruiting guys BACK FROM THE NFL, what exactly is college football anymore?
And this is why I keep saying: nobody has “won” anything here. LSU hasn’t won. The SEC hasn’t won. The NCAA hasn’t won. Lawyers are involved, lawsuits are flying, and now one of the biggest programs in college football is potentially facing expulsion from the SEC.
This will probably get dragged through courtrooms, compromises will be made, and everyone will eventually declare some version of victory.
But when it’s all over, follow the money.
Because this stopped being about amateur athletics a long time ago.
Oh.. and stop reading the news and weather from Facebook. Learn to read and go cut some grass. Enjoy your week.

The allegations are false. I hope that LSU sues the frick out of the SEC. Then, rules can be set and followed.

Well, the only person to publicly claim it immediately walked back his accusation once challenged on it by LK, so there is that.
Not saying there isn’t evidence, but that is the only thing we know publicly, and at this point you would expect for something else to have leaked about it.

Those kids had no other choice but to take that route. Then a week later the 5 for 5 comes out. It’s bullshite in my opinion. They should have the opportunity to come back to college if they’d like. If this was your son or daughter you’d be fighting for this as well.

So signing any ol contract is the ruling that they just came up with last week? A coach talking to his former player on advice that the new 5-5 rules include his signing class that could arguably have stayed in college last spring if it was available then isn’t this hostile take over or LK going rouge against the SEC. Not like he was trying to get Mahomes to come back for a 5th year. There were a lot of players that wanted to come back due to that ruling.

But before we even get there, I think an important part of this case is being overlooked that I keep referencing this suit…
The SEC’s amended complaint specifically alleges that Kiffin and LSU **“reached out to multiple players on NFL rosters or their representation”** for the purpose of getting them to pursue litigation that could allow them to return to college football. It’s everything liberal republicans hate. You get the one LGBTQ kid to try and change every bathroom in your state.”
This wasn't simply two former players randomly suing, winning a ruling, and then LSU saying, “Hey, maybe we can use these guys.” The SEC is alleging LSU and Kiffin were actively reaching into NFL rosters and encouraging the legal challenges that could create the pathway for those players to come back.
Now, to your question about what constitutes a “professional”:
Under the SEC's position, being a professional is **not dependent upon whether you ever played a regular-season snap.**
The rules address things such as entering a professional draft, signing a professional contract, or being rostered by a professional organization.
Take Dae'Quan Wright as an example.
He left college, signed an NFL contract with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent, was compensated with a signing bonus,etc.. entered an NFL organization and went through the professional process. Philadelphia waived him, Cleveland claimed him off waivers, he signed a new contract, and Cleveland subsequently waived him.
So no, he didn't play a regular-season NFL snap.
But I don't think the logical conclusion from that is that he therefore wasn't a professional football player.
If I sign an NFL contract, receive compensation and spend the entire season as a backup but never take a snap, am I not a professional?
If I'm on a practice squad, am I not a professional?
If I'm on the 53-man roster but never get into a game, am I not a professional?
That's really the issue here.
The debate isn't whether these particular guys played in an NFL regular-season game. **The debate is whether someone can leave college athletics, enter professional football, sign a professional contract and join an NFL organization—and then reverse course and return to college athletics.**
And when you combine that with the SEC's allegation that LSU and Kiffin were actually contacting NFL players or their representatives and encouraging litigation that could facilitate that return, I think it becomes a much bigger issue than whether somebody recorded an NFL snap.
