This is the Goddamn TRUTH!

Poor LSU fans. It sucks living in state of cognitive dissonance.

But, Shripboat Captain gas LSU "comin'" so all is good.

May we both be undefeated on Rivalry Weekend.

So technically Kiffin is as the one really thought to be the savior of the program?

A few thoughts:

Kiffin probably was coming; Saban made sure he got offered a HC job

Mike Leach would have been a legendary hire personality-wise. But I’m not sure anyone could have convinced him to run the ball over 20% of the time.

I like Woodward a lot but I do question his judgement on that Jimbo contract. Maybe he thought that was the best thing for aTm but realizes it wouldn’t be for lsu. Maybe he really was working for us all along

I don’t know if this is true or not, but it’s a good story

If he's talking about a search from almost 4 years ago, he screwed up.

Yeah I guess all of that is true since you intentionally withheld material context that doesn't support your agenda.

And no I'm not providing it because you know it, it just doesn't serve your weak attempt at a troll so you ignore it.

If you don't want to get into a bidding war for your first choice for head coach you then you don't want to be considered one of the top tier programs in the country.

Clemson is spending money like crazy right now and was never known for that before or as one of the historically great programs. I guarantee you they are not scared to throw all their resources at whatever they want right now.

I can't believe Alleva opened up about all that. Knowing him, it's to try to paint himself in a better light. He's a weasle.

I’m not saying that we would have gotten Herman.......but I also don’t think anyone that had good knowledge of the leadership at LSU wanted to work there until Alleva and possibly FKA were gone.

I know LSU fans are going to poo poo all over Alleva for this article

But I respect him for knowing his financial limitations and walking away from Fishers price tag. Even more for telling Herman and his agent to frick off after finding out they were not being honest with LSU

LSU dodged a huge overpriced bullet in that drunk Herman. Now we all get to laugh at those idiots in Austin for at least 3-4 more years until they finally move on to Mack Brown replacement #3

Ogeron probably is never going to come close to a championship but he’s also going to do a good steady job and not burn the program to the ground

Orgeron has a team that can win a championship right now. He has done a good job.

The idea that LSU passed on Jimbo in 2016 because FSU "was in a downward spiral" is transparent bullshite.

2010, 10-4
2011, 9-4
2012, 12-2
2013, 14-0
2014, 13-1
2015, 10-3
2016, 10-3

The idea that in 2016 the folks at LSU perceived FSU to be on a downward spiral is just a total and complete and obvious lie, made by people who are looking to improve their own image, making use of a narrative that would not have been available in 2016. Par for the course for LieSU.

I wanted Jimbo, but not for $75 mil guaranteed. I could have seen $7.5/yr for 5 years.

He will certainly elevate the Aggie football program. Will he dominate? We will see.

Look at it in terms of overall staff budget rather than salary of the Head Coach. LSU rightly refused to pay Saban -type long term money for Jimbo Fisher. And they refused to get into a bidding war over Herman . Both for the simple reason that their backup strategy was to hire Coach O on the cheap and then allow him to pay coordinators the highest salaries in the country, and hire an army of analysts and other support staff. Remember, the issue at LSU than and always was primarily QB play and offensive system stagnation- and the OC can fix that as easily as a head coach. And at that moment Kiffin was all in with Orgeron provided he didn’t get a head gig.

Bottom line -LSU was not going to overpay for a Coach when they had Coach O in the pocket. And all three schools look like they actually made the correct hire for their culture as all are on the upswing.LSU from a program standpoint is in our best position ever possibly with recruiting, facilities, branding, etc. I’d say look at the records of all three at the end of the this season and again at the end of next season and see which of the three made the best hire. I wouldn’t bet against Orgeron either because this is IT for him. This IS his legacy- there is no next stop. This is his state, his people.

Sounds like at the time Jimbo was talking with LSU, he could have been had for 7.5 for 7. It's worked out with Orgeron, as he's done a great job. (I admit...I think he's cheating his arse off on the recruiting trail).
