Cheers to Coach O!

I hate those Coonarse sumbitches one game out of the year, but I do have an affinity for the LSU Tigers.

I like Coach O, and I think it's a fine thing that the man wound up at Lousiana State.

Good for him.

I can't believe Alleva opened up about all that.
Knowing him, it's to try to paint himself in a better light. He's a weasle.

I'm sure parts of that are true, but no one was smitten with o to begin with, or they wouldn't have felt around to a number of other coaches.

Eh, maybe, maybe not. They probably wanted him but knew a lot of the fans did not. After all, his stint at Ole Miss was, well, a disaster. They knew the fans wanted a splash hire and at the time, that was Herman. I don’t blame Alleva for not getting in a bidding war over a, let’s face it, “unproven coach”. Winning in the AAC and winning in the SEC are two totally different things. Herman may turn out to be a championship coach, but as of now, he is not. He wasn’t and still isn’t worth more than 5 million/year.

That's the exact gist of the entire article: from beginning until nearly the end, Coach O was not percieved to be the ideal candidate by anyone outside of the locker room.

Take off your subjective lenses and see the words sitting in front of you.

“We were going to fly over there and meet he and his wife,” Alleva continues. “If things went well, he probably would have gotten the job. I got a call from his agent, and he didn’t want to meet. I was done with it. That was it. And I don’t think you can write what I told him.

Nice.

I like it.

But I still say Alleva fricked up the Jimbo hire in 2015 because he had zero balls and let F. King and Jindal stonewall him.

Woodward is a former political consultant and knows LSU and the legislature inside and out. He will get his man and he will tell the board to go frick themselves if they get in the way.

At the start of this search, they sought a sitting head coach who leaned toward offense with a history of molding quarterbacks

Alleva had one phone call with Fisher’s agent, Jimmy Sexton, early in the search process. They never spoke again. In the end, he was not a serious candidate

Besides Joe wanting Ed as his first choice, he doesn't seem like a clown that his fanbase made him out to be - if this article is true.

Seems smart (less of a risk) to take him over the other choices, minus Herman. However, the candidates involved are still meh, and still honestly believe LSU is better than Ed O. I mean, any of those coaches could've done the same with the talent LSU gets. Props to Ed though for doing better each year.

The Kiffin thing is weird - that they relied on Ed saying he was down - but Ed had to play the game as well I suppose.

Interesting

Jeez, way to shite all over the guy you "settled" on.

Coach O is a good dude. Seems pointless and petty to rehash this.

Yea we dodged a major bullet with Jimbo. The man knows how to wreck a program just as quickly as he erected it.

Meh, don’t let a few LSU fans speak for what really is the consensus: we absolutely wanted jimbo at lsu

He would have definitely come to LSU in 2015, but after we dropped the ball the first round it was over.

History has been kind to Alleva, because I defended him until the O hire. Now he’s showing to be a great fit. The informal search was total bullshite. And why wasn’t Mike gundy a serious candidate? He seemingly always flirts with Tennessee and is a great coach

The jimbo rumors here were started by DALSU.

Now a known fraud. Its nice to get some clarity.

And kudos to whoever saw Florida State was dying and said frick paying Jimbo that much.

This is wrong on so many levels. Someone needs to tell Joe that when you are in a hole, stop digging. Also how does one get this spy gig, and can someone please ask him what the spy told him? Maybe it was, “I watched Tom Herman and he was, in fact, coaching during the game.”
