I don't disagree with the OP actually, except for the concept that the team has been gutted.
Yeah, a lot of guys declared early. But looking at who left and who's coming back, it's more of a reload.
QB: this is obviously the biggest spot. Burrow just had the greatest season of all time, it was honestly like prime Drew Brees took a time machine from 2009 and snuck onto the field for us. He just had maybe his worst statistical game of the season, with 5 sacks and completing only 63% of his passes... and he threw for 5 TDs and 460 yds with another 60 and a TD on the ground.
-I think Brennan will be ok. He's a redshirt Jr with a big arm, and he's been paying his dues. He's not going to be Joe, but there's every chance he could still be All SEC.
WR: Chase and Marshall return. That's huge for Brennan, and leaves LSU with still likely the best 2 WRs in the conference.
RB: Clyde leaves, but Emery, Davis-Price and Curry return. If the light comes on for Emery, that could be an upgrade.
TE: haven't heard if Moss declared yet, interesting to watch.
OLine: got some guys returning, need to replace the center
D line: got some guys returning there too, and they were "ok"
LB: this is interesting, as Queen and Philips both are leaving, but they were really just your "average LSU LB's". There really shouldn't be a drop off here.
Secondary: Lose Fulton, Stingley returns, Flott steps up at corner. Others in the pipeline.
Lose Delpit, Stevens returns, Vincent is in play, I think there's some highly touted freshmen (a couple got into the game Monday) ready to step in.
ST: Kicker returns, punter was generic. Stingley and Palmer both back as return guys.
This is the SEC, not the ACC or Big 12, so there's no way I can predict another 15-0 season, but it won't be like 2008. We get Texas at Tiger Stadium, so once again a "big game" early to sharpen the focus and prime the confidence levels.
We might lose a conference game or 2, but I think we win whatever postseason game we're in.
Coaching- losing some assistants, but Brady (for all the hype) is replaceable. The basic concept is to run a passing attack with elite talent, and the playbook is in place now.
Aranda, if he stays or goes, has been good, but not immortal level great. Defense this year was statistically one of the worst ones we've had, and was still plenty good.
O isn't leaving like Saban did, and he's not satisfied yet like Miles became. I see another run like the mid-2000's; not a Bama level run.

Not too worried about it. I wouldnt expect a repeat even if all those guys came back as we're not entirely sure what we will get from Myles Brennan as a first time starter. However i fully expect the 2020 team to be very competitive and in contention for the West.

Jealousy is a very immature emotion.

First SEC team to 15-0. GOAT CFB season by many objective measures. Don’t care.

You're too focused on the departures AND zero attention to who's staying and who will take their place.
LSU WILL definitely be a team to watch in 2020... playmakers will abound on both offense and defense.
GFY and Geaux Tigers.

Kudos to the Shrimpboat Captain, he showed he can drive a boat for sure. It was a storybook year for Joe Burrow and the entire LSU Football Program.
There was a lot of crowing and cock a doodle doo when Bama's juniors were deciding what they were going to do and I told you your turn in the barrel was coming, and it's here. And they are flocking to the draft.
Next year's team, honestly, has been gutted. Oh, the cupboard ain't bare, but you won't repeat. LSU will be rebuilding without a doubt. Good Luck.
Why is it that Ed Orgeron is the only coach in CFB history that you Skoal Drool Things refer to by a summer job he had 40 years ago ??????? WTF does that even mean ???? So his 35+ years of coaching and Master's Degree just like, magically don't exist to you?
As far as next year, that's all you Things ever talk about. You said the same thing at this time last year....
And yes, we 'may' not repeat, but "next year's team, honestly" has not been 'gutted.'
We have a lot of talent and depth returning ready to attempt to emulate what the departing stars did. We don't rebuild, Tigers retool.
Skoal Taaaaaaaaaaaaahd....So your color is now Green, not crimson.
lose the best QB you're ever likely to have to go with them, along with [img]the passing game guru that made him that way.[[/img]/quote]
You obviously didn’t see any of the stories of Burrow from high school. Joe Brady didn’t have to teach Burrow much. All he had to do was set up the scheme and coach the receivers.

How does it feel that none of your national championship teams were better than this team?

You guys do realize you are giving antibarner exactly what he wants, right?

Bama is losing just as many underclassmen as LSU.
Idiot.
Idiot.
