My suggestion is this:
SEC drops the lawsuit. Says it will honor the injunctions for this year (2026-2027). Everyone after this year is completely under 5 for 5 and they can also say that the "no pro" rule will take effect over the summer when the new league year starts. Anyone who breaks the rule from that point forward will get fricked by the long dick of the law.
LSU says that we agreed to that rule and will accept it after this school year. They can say that the legal process created lots of uncertainty and too many questions over eligibility. The new rules becoming fully active for 2027-2028 would eliminate that uncertainty.
Other SEC schools are able to recruit players who fit within the criteria of the injunctions for this year. This also allows other issues like Chambliss to play out.
Theoretically, this issue should be resolved after this year no matter what, so it's a way for this thing to settle without anyone using a nuclear option.

That didn’t force the SEC to change their rules. Getting sued by 40+ athletes did.

Such a rule would not have worked for the current players.
They were out of eligibility at the time of NFL Draft and unable to withdraw.

I would think LSU fans deep down want LSU to do the right thing, but they feel attacked so they’re circling the wagons.
Typical stuff. And in fairness plenty of LSU fans have basically said this.

You need to add in the fact that LSU fans are one of the dumbest fanbases and, by far, the most insecure fanbase. Those are probably connected to each other.

That's 100% what's happening.
And in fairness, I'm not generally muh SEC hates us, but the conference did react much differently to this specific case than they have with many in the past.
