LSU should walk away now that SEC has filed in federal court.

It's too late. We already have class of 2022 players in other sports playing games.

And it's not just players "in question". It would have to be any player from the class of 2022 or currently ineligible per NCAA rules.

I will accept no compromise unless it includes Sankey’s resignation.

Easy answer. LSU declines to roster the players in question (who aren't exactly difference makers), and everyone goes back to business as usual.

I expect this, unless LSU just knows they can't be punished.

No one wins in an event that LSU is sanctioned. Kiffin could be fired for cause, which negates his buyout, and the donors would be out millions of dollars for the roster. Plus, the players will have basically wasted a year for nothing.

There are also the possibilities for penalties from the CFP itself, which may be the ultimate deciding factor.

I think the whole thing was part troll, part Hail Mary to make a point, and maybe get some depth pieces.

I think it's interesting that we haven't really heard any players/recruits, or their parents, protesting this stunt on social media. Either they're simply waiting to see what's going to happen, a rarity in today's world, or they've already been informed.

I don't think so. Not as long as Lane Kiffin is calling the shots in BR.

Who would have ever thought Texas Tech fans are smarter than LSU fans.

You do not have the right to use the courts to change conference rules against the other 15 members.

And the SEC does not have the right to enforce conference rules on LSU and not others for breaking the same rules, which is why the court is involved. If Sankey tries, he will be prosecuted.

How is LSU sanctioned if they follow the SEC rules?

No one talked about Bama going independent or Ole Miss either when they got injunctions. Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi State all have football players with NFL experience. Ole Miss just got a commitment from a basketball player that played at Florida who played in the G-League. But, its just LSU.

Because those were single cases that only granted specific players elgibilty.

LSU launched a campaign to completely change the rules on who is eligible against the entire conference. It wasn't an exception like the ones you mention, it was a large change in rules for the entire conference. You caused 100s of players to be eligible against the SECs rules.

Rules that 15 other members of the SEC voted against.

That is why it is not an eligibility case, it's the SEC vs LSU and the LSU is accused of 1st amendment violations by trying to force the SEC to associate with people it did not want too.

LSU is fricked. If you win, there will no longer be any point to conferences. If you lose, you will face the punishments the SEC members voted for.

All pros should be dropped from all SEC member rosters. LSU is the largest offender but not the only one.

It's not the same thing and you'll all find out soon enough.

Thats not the issue. Im perfectly fine with the conference saying any player that has participated in NFL activities whether it be mini-camp, preseason camp, etc is banned

Serious question. What's the best solution here for a peaceful resolution?

If LSU’s official roster turned in today includes no former NFL players there will be a peaceful resolution with the SEC.

If LSU’s roster includes any former NFL players the other SEC members will try to cripple or destroy LSU.

According to this ESPN article it is too late, LSU has already added them to the roster, including a third player who wasn’t involved in the Baton Rouge case.

LSU in Process of Adding Former Denver Broncos CB After Court Ruling

LSU has a little of a defense on Wright and Harris. The judge ordered LSU to put them on the roster. If they also add a player not involved in the suit I think the SEC will have the 12 votes they need to expel LSU. They likely will not do it until the lawsuits play out. But I think if LSU includes Cotton on their official roster they will get nuked eventually. Maybe not expelled, but crippled. It would be better for everyone to just vote them out.

Yes. LSU has lost institutional control. The death penalty needs to be implemented here

The SEC can make whatever bylaws they want. But when they can’t articulate what their own bylaws even mean then a court is going to tell them they can’t enforce the bylaws.

The SEC admitted yesterday that there is no language in Rule 12.6 that the players in the LA lawsuit are ineligible per SEC bylaws.

If the players status does not violate the bylaw, based on the SEC’s own testimony, how can they mete out punishment on LSU?

The Court ruled that LSU and the SEC must roster the players. It also ruled that the SEC cannot impose penalties on LSU for doing so. If the SEC does, they are subject to lawsuit and being held in contempt.

Expulsion would be considered imposing a penalty for the time being.

The issue is that expulsion is the probably the cleanest solution, from a legal standpoint…
