I think most people think that LSU will be pretty good this year. I think it's obvious that Kiffin is one of the greatest coaches alive today.
Now, will they make the playoffs in year 1? I doubt it. But barring some crazy drama going down (not totally off the table for Kiffin), I expect Kiffin to be the best LSU head coach since Nick Saban.

I haven't been following this case much at all, but my general feeling is that the NCAA has no teeth whatsoever until antitrust laws are passed, so why not do what Lane is doing?
There are basically no rules in college sports right now that can't be overturned by an alumni judge.
