Nashville has a more educated group of people that live in the metro area. Less Tennessee people and more from better schools.

Obviously moving to Alabama worked out for the Bryant family but I wonder how rich they would be if Bear had taken the second offer Arkansas made to him. There is a big difference between having money and having the will to spend money. Nobody would say that LSU alumni are the richest group in college football, but we have clearly shown that our alumni have the will to spend money.
I'm not sure Bama alumni have become as desperate as LSU alumni were halfway through last season.

I think having a large collective of multi-millionaires committed to financial support over a larger billionaire donor or two is not a bad situation. Steady revenue and more diversity of income streams likely leads to less pressure or influence on the school and AD from the billionaire voice (see TX Tech) and less disruption in revenue stream if donation desires change.
Plus, like most SEC schools, Bama has a huge base (alumni and sidewalk fans alike) willing to lend support and purchase merchandise and tkts.
Bama does not have a billionaire sugar daddy and they are not in the elite echelons of donor support, but they are doing well enough to remain competitive.
