Award shows are largely self congratulatory circle jerks, we should not care what people that live with their heads up their arse think

Not all of us…. Why do people east of Alabama pronounce pecan peee-can

Can you bold the part that explains how that provision making it easier for the State to remove elected officials in New Orleans benefited New Orleans?
There is an assumption that Moon was negotiating in good faith for the benefit of New Orleans. Moon (and the rest of the Landrieu family) made decisions that benefited their own political expediency. If the city or the state benefited that was coincidence.

Of your examples, I would only concede that blacks on average have low impulse control
Assuming this is true is it a function of race or a politically engineered environment (johnsons great society) that disproportionately preyed on a race. Had families not been financially disincentivized would generational roll models been in place to help provide guidance for individuals with poor impulse control.

Dickey in my opinion wrote the worst Allman Brothers song (rambling man) and the best (Liz Reed and Jessica) Jessica’s structure made a whole lot more sense when I realized how influenced Dickey was by Django Reinhardt.

Downvote all you like there were a lot fewer distractions in the mid 90s than right now

I’m 48 and don’t know what Messi looks like. In the mid 90s it was impossible to not know who Jordan was or what he looked like

re: Do you believe this stat about kids still at home?
Posted by Harvey Vortac on 7/16/26 at 2:42 pm to Allthatfades
A few things here…
1. multi-generational households is not historically unique
2. Whether the kid is contributing equitably to the household or living an extended adolescence qualifies my judgement
3. I know it makes me sexist, but I judge male children more harshly in these scenarios.
4. My sons life would be very boring if he did this…..I want my house shutdown for the night by 930.

re: When did wearing a collared shirt = ‘dressing up’ in America?

It started when men stopped wearing proper hats in public. Kennedy started the trend.

New Orleans is special. It has historical and cultural significance that cannot be rivaled.
No argument on that, but how is that truly quantified against fiscal realities.
Not me but plenty of people in the state hate New Orleans culture and dismiss its significance. I personally find the “culture bearer” moniker offputting, the cultural experience should speak for itself.

Wait, people outside of New Orleans are still throwing a fit that the state constitution stipulated that we have separate criminal and civil clerks of court for 150 years? I'm under the impression that State Supreme Court sided with Landry.
I think the rest of the state was rolling their eyes and calling out Orleans residents for throwing a fit. (I’d prefer to use tantrum)

She is committing political suicide by following this coarse.
I’m not sure she is hurting her political career. She was never going to be electable statewide, and for the most part this won’t move the needle for the Orleans Parish body politic especially when she has 3 years until she has to run again.
It’s a stupid fight for Moreno, however she could see it as an opportunity to “fight the good fight” and better position herself for a cabinet position if the dems retake the White House.
Mitch used the removal of the confederate statues to do this in his second term, partly due to the profile he received from this he was pencilled in to be head of HUD had Hillary won in 2016.

Who cares about the UF series in the grand scheme of things. The expectation every year should be make the playoffs and compete for a national title. If we don't play UF to make the playoff chances better, who cares. I could care less if we played Bama every year, if you told me that would result in us making the playoffs every year.
I’m probably in the minority, but I miss the old days when winning the conference was the goal. I certain watched more games than I do today (that may be a function of other responsibilities though).
I will always bleed purple and gold, but I am becoming much less a fan of the sport.
The same thing happened to me with the NFL— I follow the Saints but if their not involved I’m disinterested.

If everyone drove the same speed the world would be a better place, speed doesn’t cause problems, difference in speeds causes problems

Right. We should be cheering on all parts of the state. Antagonizing New Orleans (or any other city/region) serves no practical purpose.
Ultimately what purpose does New Orleans antagonizing the State serve?
Seems to me that the city is having a hissy fit — other than pandering to myopic and self involved locals — I’m not sure what the end game is.
