Leaving town and being paid 50-60 million to do so doesn't sound so bad.

It's a smart business move for sure. When a program is desperate to step out of the shadows, that's when they are most vulnerable.

I think LSU is going after the hot name. I think some LSU folks are ignoring the results on the field and what LR inherited. Woodward is great at getting his man but, as seen before, he may not be the best at evaluating what the program needs.

OU has the same recruiting ceiling as LSU. If LSU has better defenders then that’s a failure on his part.

All of his top QBs were transfers. That’s not a huge knock but still worth noting.

The biggest know is that when faced with teams with similar talent levels his record is pretty poor. It’s not hard to pile up wins at OU in the Big 12. They won like 6 conference titles in a row before he even got there

Because Riley would be starting over. It's not about those schools being better. Just that Riley and Day stepped into jobs they didn't have to build. They took over a machine that was running pretty well. They just had to keep it running.

What does he have to "start over?"

LSU offer allegedly. Overpriced IMHO

How many children's hospitals are there in Louisiana to steal from?

They're WAY more excited about Riley than I would be.

Good grief. Not even close. But LSU is growing desperate, so I can see it happening.

New everything. Doubt he brings his whole coaching staff. So that's one thing. Can he build a coaching staff? He took over Stoop's staff. I'm sure he added one or two. Working with new admin. That is a big deal. So much more than just X's and O's. Plus recruiting areas he does not know. New coaching staff recruiting new area. What is not starting over?

At the end of the day, who could LSU have hired, this cycle, that has a better resume and bring more excitement than Riley?

I'd rather Aranda but Riley isn't a bad hire, if he's the guy.

Lot of similarities to Jimbo except Jimbo did happen to get matched up with an inferior Auburn team and was able to win a title that one year.

Heres the new company line.

"Hes almost like Jimbo. Except for the title. And yeah I know weve made fun of them for YEARS about it but now we are so low on copium I'm comparing our hire with aTm to be able to deal with it."

Holy shite

He hired Sarkisian at UW.
Peterson was a good hire.
Jimbo has not lived up to the money he is being paid!

If it’s the 12-13, there will be buyers remorse soon.

The fans? Very true. Most want a splash hire to brag about. I want a solid fundamentals guy.

Bragging is done years down the road when you win shite.

Its Scotty's MO. Find the guy you want, pay him whatever it takes.

I think Riley can win at LSU, but he needs a top notch DC.

Gotta love this board.

A week ago it was "LSU fans are delusional if they think they can get a coach like Riley or Jimbo".

Now that it looks very possible we do land who we wanted, it has turned into "He really isn't any good anyway".

Keep making excuses. If you are scared, just say you're scared, lol.
