Riley isn’t a terrible hire. He’s just not the best available. Aranda would have been the HR for LSU - he whipped Riley with a bunch of 3* players. Campbell beat him last year

Both of those coaches play tough football. Like every other group Riley has lost to because his teams are notoriously soft

Truth. Clemson had a much longer history of winning football.

For most of its history Texas A&M was a rent a win, playing all the big games on the road.

Jimbo digging us out of the mud in the toughest division in ncaafb. Clemson. Not so much.

Lincoln Riley has the #3 ranked recruiting class for 2022 for OU and the #1 for 2023 for OU.
Imagine with his offensive knowledge bringing that and a decent DC hire to LSU

I love this dumbass logic.

Like there's some ban at OU to him hiring and coaching a decent defense. It makes absolutely zero sense, but then that's L2U for you.

I agree, if the are paying $12-$13 million/year, they should have done better.

I guess we'll see if that number holds up.

He’s lost to Baylor, Iowa State and Kansas State all in the past two seasons.

Jimberly makes $10M/year and got swept by both MS teams this year.

Ryan Day makes half of those numbers. He’s also a significantly better coach and recruiter than Riley. But if you got your guy - good for you. Don’t want to hear anymore about Fisher’s contract

Why wouldn’t you pay him that much? He’s clearly established himself as a championship coa…

Oh shite.

What sets the market today, will be average in three years time. Just look at Tucker’s extension.

Saban would have been great too. Riley is a heck of a consolation prize, I guess.

Both Mississippi teams would beat OU by 50.

THIS is a fun topic. The content of the posts says a lot about the posters. IDT Riley leaves Oklahoma unless he is run out of town. We certainly are not at that point Riley is doing PDG at OU and has top three class next year top 2 class in 2023.

The people that say he is a crap coach just came off of Ogeron and Miles, lol....

The money thing sounds high but the HC at Mich St just got what 10$million a year and his pass defense is rated #130 out of 130 P5 teams...lol....

Let’s play the game...reasons why LR will go to LSU, Easy recruiting and easy NC since two idiots recently won NC at LSU. $12 million is more than $7.5 million, he would fill the one thing LSU has not had QB development and offense....

Reasons LR won’t go to LSU ; he is building at Oklahoma, LSU is not a blue blood Oklahoma is a blue blood, has been rumored to be taking every high profile HC job last 3 4 years this is more of the same, LR knows the Oklahoma program is stable and the LSU program cycles through coaches on a regular basis....

I don’t think Riley is a crap coach. I think he isn’t remotely worth 12-13M a year. I also think his defense is pathetic. But not a crap coach.

Nothing is more meaningless than "blue blood" status. I love how OU fans have to resort to it just like Michigan, Nebraska and Notre Dame fans.

They have $30+million buyout to deal with and the highest annual debt service (as a portion of their revenue) in the SEC yet they're spending $2 million on a freakin WBB coach and now they're talking about spending $12.5 for a new coach?

Woodward seems to be spending money as fast as he can print it
