No he's not. He's just a slightly more arrogant version of Sark. Neither will win a title as head coach. There is plenty of data on both of them as HC. Everyone getting worked up over nothing honestly.

Coach O was 10-25 at Ole Miss before he went 6-2 at USC as a head coach. Why does previous record matter when it comes to LSU?

Love you want to bring up opponent's records. Now do A&M last year.
A&M beat 7 SEC teams last year who had a combined SEC record of 12-44.
7 teams with only 12 wins.

Is Mike Elko really all that? 21-16 against power conf teams with 0 wins over a team that finished a season ranked inside the top 10.

I know I'm dealing with LSU people here, but I'm still amazed at how little grasp they have when it comes to clear thinking.
No one at A&M who is aware of our pre-Elko era in the SEC is running around like a 13 yrd old girl who just got her first kiss. There were several pretty good seasons, but the reality is our head coaching wasn't great when it came to the better teams.
The question I raised was legitimate- how good is he really? Elko I think is damn good, but he's only 6-6 at A&M by that metric, I think. Maybe 17-15 is okay.

If you want to fly under the radar, win 8 games a year, occasionally win 10–11, and never win a Natty, you hire Mike Elko.
If you want to win a Natty, you hire Lane Kiffin.
You’re going to go for broke doing it. There’s going to be more risk, more noise, and probably more controversy along the way. But LSU isn’t chasing 8–10 wins. LSU is chasing championships.
I’ll take the guy who gives us the highest ceiling over the guy who gives us the safest floor.
After all, the goal is to win a Natty—not to win a moral crusade.

CLK lost to Brian Harsin.
Maybe we should play some games and see IF he is the greatest.
When Bama lost to Ohio State with the back up QB(Cardell Jones), there was a series in the second half where Lane sort of gave away the game. He had a loaded backfield and chose not to run after a turnover on OSU side of the field.
He ain’t perfect. None of them are.
