To ever win a national championship? Lassic was decent and Palmer was the only weapon. Qb was….lets just be honest….horrible.
Probably worse than 2000 ravens relatively speaking. Impressive season by Alabama.

Nevada was also #1 over Nebraska in 95. Must've been running some wacky offense.

1992 Alabama, 2002 Ohio State, and 2023 Michigan are the three worst offensive units to win a national title in the last 40ish years.

They certainly didn't put up big numbers but they didn't have to. That defense was generational. Ol Bebe just knew he had to limit turnovers and score about 10 points to get a win most of the time. Case in point La tech in 92. The Deuce getting a punt return touchdown was all it took to win. Even after the Saban era, I think that 92 championship win over Miami was my favorite Bama game of all time.

That defense allowed 9.4 points per game. I believe 8’of the 11 starters went on to play in the NFL. The offense didn’t need to be very good, they just needed to give the defense some time to rest on the sidelines. The slow, plodding ball control offense helped contribute just a little to the gaudy numbers the defense put up.

Yeah...watching them play in 2002 was very difficult, especially in the back half of the season. No one really gave them a chance in that Fiesta Bowl.

Yeah that offense was pretty shitty, only served to enhance how legendary that defense was ultimately
