Old joke...
A Kentucky fan and an LSU fan were talking about the best players in SEC history and Pete's name came up.
The Kentucky fan said, "how many points would Pete score in the SEC if he were alive and playing today".
The LSU fan said, "20 points per game"
The UK fan said..."only 20"
The LSU fan said, "Sure...Pete would be 60 years old"

Seriously, though. he was a great player and a really good person, to boot, once he settled down a bit. He was fun to watch.

I didn't think of putting Simmons at point.
Anyway, it's hard to put Simmons in over Macklin being that he only played at LSU one season and is still early n his pro career.

Well, he's going to be ROY and averaged like 19/12/7 at LSU with a sea turtle for a head coach.
He's already a super star and he's about to he an elite NBA player, if he's not already.
He might have the most natural talent of anyone on the roster I listed.
ETA:
Damn I just looked at his rookie stats. He's so damn filthy.
16.5 PPG, 7.7 RPG, 7.5 APG, and 19 PER
AS A ROOKIE!
For reference, Lebron went:
20.9 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 5.9 APG, and 18.3 PER

Tremont Waters is the new GOAT

I can't wait until we get some talent to go with Waters.

The third (Roberts) and 4th (Hammink) best players on the team
Geert Hammink was not the 4th best player on the 1989-90 LSU Tigers. What???
Vernel Singleton
Maurice Williamson
Wayne Sims
He isn't even listed on the roster, actually.

Why did the you just say these 5 players and include Ben Simmons? Or replace big baby with Simmons?

Can my boi Stromile get some love? Stromile Swift is at least starting on the all name team.

He didn't play that year because he had Shaq and Roberts ahead of him at center, but he was on that team. He had a better career than the other guys you listed. He was a freaking 1st round pick.

I mean, they were great individual players and all, but they wouldn't play well together as a TEAM.
Also some of the reason Chris Jackson was so good. Dale Brown gave him the greenlight to shoot as much as he wanted and it often came at the expense of his teammates. LSU would have been better if Jackson had shot less, imo.

Big baby should absolutely be replaced with Simmons from the OP's post at least.
I really like:
C: Shaq
F: Bob Petit
F: Ben Simmons
G: Chris Jackson
G: Pistol Pete
That's a ridiculous starting 5. Not sure why we ever started with 4 because the OP did, if you have to eliminate one of those, probably Simmons.

Chris Jackson and Shaq were on the same team and they couldn't make it past the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament. So ...
...when Shaq was a freshman.

Jackson was 47.4% from the floor, 37.2% from 3 and 86.3% from the line ...those are really great percentages for a guard who shot at the volume he did. Not like he was Marshall Henderson out there just jacking up a ton of shots to score. Jackson averaged 1.32 PPS, which is good for a guard.
When Stanley Roberts and Shaq came in his last year, his number of shots did decrease some.
