re: Beamer
Posted by goodshotred2 on 1/11/25 at 7:23 pm
I like Beamer and his energy is what is needed in today's game, but he needs to mature a bit and get his emotions under control. The fake vs Ole Miss was incomprehensible. It felt like he was trying to win a dick showing contest with Kiffin and he lost. We had a great defense; play the field position game. Instead, he handed the ball to an explosive offense with a short field and it had a major impact on the game for the players and fans. Bielema played him like a fiddle.

If there are more pass rushers than blockers, there are basically three options. One is to check to another play, usually a run. The second is to adjust the pass protection to pick up the extra rusher. The last option is to leave the widest rusher unblocked and throw hot to that side if he rushes. All three have their pros and cons, but the latter two are heavily dependent on the QBs ability to recognize the defense, make the adjustments, and execute. Obviously, this can be difficult at times for a young, inexperienced QB like Sellers to do consistently.

My great-something grandfather was in the 124th NY regiment and was killed at the Battle of Gettysburg. Got to go there when I was in high school and saw his name on a monument which was pretty cool.

Even if this is the case, the NYT isn't writing a story from his perspective. Switch the roles and it would be a hit piece preaching to the world about toxic masculinity. This story exists to empower the woman, otherwise it would have called her out for being a whore. It wouldn't even be published 20 years ago. It's stuff like this that gives credence to the idea that men are being emasculated.

Michael Phelps. I was an athlete in college and me and a few buddies went out one night. When we got in the bar, there was a bunch of chatter that he was there. He bought us and everyone else drinks. Kind of looked like him, but didn't pay much mind. When he showed up in the weight room the next day, it confirmed that it was probably him. Found out later that his coach was based in Columbia, and that was the same weekend he got busted for weed.

He reminds me a lot of Deshaun Watson. Yes there are flaws, but he has been a winner his entire career. Probably a second or third round prospect physically, but I think he'll have a solid career wherever he lands if he stays healthy.
re: Do you still use cursive writing?
Posted by goodshotred2 on 1/5/24 at 8:36 am
I use a combination of print and cursive like others have said. I understand why others think it is outdated, but there is a visual appeal to it that I think is sadly overlooked in our modern culture which seems to be solely focused on efficiency.
Aesthetics is one of the five main branches of philosophy, which was my college major. I didn't understand it's importance at the time, but I have really come to appreciate it as I've gotten older. There is definitely something to being able to recognize and appreciate beauty in its many forms, and deriving general happiness from it.

If you're trying to impress a chick, wrapping a present is a skill worth learning. Instant panty dropper.
re: My 15-year-old kid wants to start dropshipping
Posted by goodshotred2 on 6/28/23 at 7:43 pm
I used to drop ship for a living so I'll give you the low down.
Drop shipping is essentially the practice of selling someone else's goods without holding the inventory yourself. As an example: Danner is a great boot manufacturer, but they don't have a great marketing campaign. They may enlist people or companies to market and drop ship their boots.
How to become a dropshipper. One: you need to have a website that can aggressively market the product. Two:you need good credit. Companies that are willing to dropship usually require references. After all, they are taking all the financial risk in stocking and shipping the product. You need to be able to pay them.
Bottom line: you need to be able to market the product at an agreed upon price. Vendors aren't going to give drop shipping privileges to Joe Blow trying to sell the product for $5 above cost.

re: What brand of casual pants are y’all wearing?

For the dress code you described, check out Lands End. They have nice cotton polos, but a little bit on the pricier end for what they are. The Lakewash chinos are a great deal though at $50. Lots of fit options, small but good color selection, and pretty good quality. The additional milage you'd get out of them is probably worth the extra money compared to what you'd spend on some of the cheaper options out there.
re: Songs with great drums

Haven't seen him mentioned yet, but Tommy Lee on Dr Feel-good and Girls, Girls, Girls. He's a fairly one dimensional drummer, but he can really propel a song with such energy. He just hits the drums in a way that sets him apart, no matter how simple the beat is.
I love Charlie Watts and Steven Alder too. Overshadowed within their bands, but such a vital ingredient.

My dad's favorite gag when introducing me to someone I didn't know was:
Have you met my son? He looks just like his father. If I ever get a hold of that guy, he's in big trouble.

Nature's beauty. The rich hues of the South Carolina sky at dusk always capture a smile from my face. Also, the leaves changing color in the fall. It's one of the few things I really miss from living in the North. Usually, the southern heat just turns everything from green to brown. There is something primal about the leaves turning red and yellow that really makes you believe in a higher power.

Absolutely mosh pit approved.

Are you actually going to be using them for rugged use? If so, don't buy those.
Altama still makes a jungle boot I think. They are not the same company as they used to be, but it would definitely be a better quality product than Rothco.
Top of the line would probably be Mcrae. They are high quality made in the USA boots.

Another great solo that I'm pretty positive Lukather played was "She's a Beauty" by the Tubes.

WWI more than WWII imo. Hitler was an anchor for the Nazis.
Had the Clown Prince not pushed so hard on Verdun, I think the Germans could have defeated the French in WWI.
Hitler took France in just two months and conquered almost all of mainland Europe within two years. Germany's battle with France wasn't much more than a stalemate for most of WW1. Yeah, he made some strategic errors that ultimately cost him the war, but that doesn't diminish what he was able to do in such a rapid fashion.
re: Is Newark Airport the worst? The city is the worst
Posted by goodshotred2 on 5/20/23 at 8:08 am
Believe it or not Newark has made a lot of upgrades over the past 5 years. I don't think it's too bad now. It was an absolute nightmare in the 90's. It is pretty well designed for driving around if you need to drop people off or pick up. I just went through LAX last month and it's the worst run airport I've been through in the past 20 years.
re: You ever been roofied?
Posted by goodshotred2 on 5/19/23 at 10:07 pm
I sublet a room in another guy's apartment for one semester in college. He went out to the bar one night and came back late, beyond messed up with a homeless guy in tow. He told me he was letting him stay the night in the living room. I proceeded to lock my room and waited it out.
He left about an hour later after my landlord passed out, but not before stealing his computer. He told me the next morning he thought he was roofied. I didn't disagree at the time. However, shortly thereafter, he had to do a week in prison for a repeat DUI offense, so maybe he was just retarded.

Posted by goodshotred2 on 5/16/23 at 11:00 pm
Gave my dad's a couple of years ago. I was his primary care giver the previous few weeks cause my mom was a deer in headlights and I'm an only child so I had to be a man about it. Was able to keep it together until the last paragraph when I finally had to let it out.
