A handful of Super Bowls have been played in terrible weather. Let's not pretend that heavy rain and wind are any better than a bit of snow.

Six teams sounds good to me. Top two get a bye, next four play at 3/4 home field. No one should have a thing to bitch about.

Outside stadiums only work in SoCal and Florida - they won't be playing these games in Charlotte/Nashville/etc.

Atlanta Dallas Miami. Nawlins would be ok except the seating in super dome sux. 50 yard line seats are half mile from the field. Some upper deck seating in end zone have view blocked from part of end zone.

Sure, but it could also be a high of 43 with rain. That's not a possibility in Miami/Tampa.

I'm not saying that's right, but it's how the Super Bowl/CFB think - except for this year for whatever reason.

I'd sign off on that format in a heartbeat.

Oh, sorry.

It’s a Championship game in New Orleans that you are struggling with.

Sorry

I mean, I agree with them to an extent. IMO for a game as important as a title game you should try to eliminate all outside factors that could influence the game one way or the other.

Yea I think that is a valid reason - and the other reason is they don't want to deal with outside factors for all the hoopla that goes on around it (and makes them money).

They don't do Super Bowl's in freezing cold weather and the CFP National Title game pretty much operates in the same way. There's no way they're playing that game in Chicago in January. They won't even play them in places like Nashville, Charlotte or Washington.

But as I started my post, isn't it done by a bidding process? where $ talks? If Chicago bids 1.5X more than a southern city, they are getting the game right? I don't know all the details but I assume bids means actual cash and they don't just pick who they want off a number of offerings

Yes it is - and you may be right. Honestly, I think I read an article saying a lot of the Santa Clara thing had to do with Levi's Stadium desperately trying to book big events and giving them huge tax breaks/payments/etc.

I would love to see the game at Soldier Field. Even if it was teams like UT against Southern Cal, watching players adapt to the cold is fun when they aren't used to it.

A perfect example is watching Miami just die in it whenever they play a bowl game and it's below 70

Needs to be centrally located and a dome.

What's the incentive for fans traveling to Chicago in January? Do you really want to spend a minimum of $2500.00 to freeze your arse off?

Good luck with those hotel bookings.

Nashville is no good unless they build a dome. It's extremely wet and rainy this time of year and the weather is unpredictable. I was wearing shorts on NYE this year, but there have been years where highs have been in the 20s. I think when LSU played in the Music City bowl a few years ago it was below freezing.

Of course, but they wouldn't really have any ground to stand on. Unfortunately, in the current system, they do.

St. Louis, maybe? I know people hate Missouri but it's reasonably central and will have a domed arena by the time the pro team starts play in a couple years. Or next year, or something.

Location wise would make sense, but I think someone from Missouri in this thread said that the old Dome is basically dilapidated. They don't have a proper venue.
