Your offensive system sucked without Keenum.

The expectation should always be 10+ wins and competing for the conference championship.

Too many variables involved outside of your control to expect a national title.

Sorry no one bit on your bait. Weren't you just posting on the OTB about how terrible trolling was on the SECR?

you Bama guys and Saban knew what was coming this past year and they did not, could not stop him. He will be better next year. It will be a dogfight, but I understand...we will not surprise anyone next year. To the question? Seeing as how we have not won a MNC since 1939, our disappointment will be tempered by that fact. I hope we are trying to build something sustainable, not a flash in the pan. Talent is coming and JFF may not be necessary for our long term success.

I haven't read this entire thread, but anyone that thinks that aTm doesn't lose at least 4-5 games last yr w/out JFF is not worth having a true discussion with.

Too many variables to make that definitive claim.

You know, I came into this thread to show my disdain for someone that always seems to find negative angles to exploit in whatever he talks about...

but I'd say it is a fair argument because of Auburn and Cam. that team wasn't that great outside of Cam... UF's team did it because of Tebow AND his team. but, you know... you may have a point.

only one thing here... he gets until he's graduated to call that a disappointment.

Bama coaches are already preparing for A&M. Desinated some players to shut him down and have them working on the plan.

A&M is doesn't not know what is about to hit them.

Why don't you talk to Mike and Bob Stoops about that? The complete assjacking they took in the CB came after a month of preparation, and was one of OU's worst losses in years...

Agreed, but we also might have had a completely different outcome against LSU, too. That was probably Manziel's worst outing.

No, dammit.

Seems pretty fair to me.

Seems fair to me, too, assuming A&M would have as many screwups by the QB against Ole Miss and Louisiana Tech... and for that matter LSU. I don't think that's a given. But this is all a bit pointless, roughly equivalent to "I wish we could play <whoever> again."

Please, please, please. I might even go to church again to see that happen... OK, that's a lie.

If we go 11-1 and play in an at-large BCS bowl, not very dissapointing.

Seven of our wins were complete and total blowouts that were over by halftime (SMU, SCSU, Arky, Auburn, MSU, SHSU and Mizzu) so I think we can safely count those under the "we win with Showers anyway" category. We would have lost to LSU, Bama and probably Ole Miss. It's tough to say La. Tech would have won even though it was close because our defense was the problem, our offense scored at will on a horrible defense. I don't think they would have slowed us down any moreso with Showers.

Ironically, we might have beaten Florida with Showers given his superiority as a passer at that point and how close the game was through nothing special Manziel did.

I think worst case scenario we would have finished 8-4 with Manziel, with a good shot at 9-3. A bowl win and we might have had double digit wins anyway. Manziel was the sole determinent between a win and a loss in only two games. The rest of our team was pretty good.

It really depends. If Johnny stays for his Junior year, we should be a vastly improved team overall in 2014. But there is no reason we shouldn't be ready to play in 2013 except for tripping over ourselves (injury bug, suspensions, etc.).
