If A&M doesn't win the NC next year, how big a disappointment is it?

Doesn't look like JFF will be around through his senior year due to the emergence of Russell Wilson driving up his stock. If A&M doesn't cash in a title with a transcendent QB the way Aubie and Florida did, how big a fail is that?

Not much... we are still building our talent base, and JFF is special, but we should be able to plug in a Kenny Hill, or Matt Davis, or another QB, and do very well. Our offensive system is always going to put up points - for example no dropoff after KK left. We have to make the talent base 4* and 5* instead of predominantly 3*, and eventually the cards will fall your way with good coaching.

You have to become a program like Alabama, LSU, FL, or even tOSU, etc where you are consistently in the discussion. One magical year does not a program make (like BYU)

Long term success is more important than "cashing in" on a JFF type. Would be really nice to win, though

It's not that big a deal. Sumlin is such an amazing recruiter/coach, they'll just bring in another heisman-winner to replace him.

That's an awfully steep standard to set, Tex. Win a natty or be disappointed. The only thing that would disappoint me is if we lose a game in a boneheaded manner.

Or if we lose an OOC game.

Depends how it happens. It isn't about the Xs and Os, it is the Jimmies and the Joes. We have a transcendant player that is capable of single handedly beating a lot of opponents. You want to cash in on it while you can.

And there it is. Ask Urban and Gene how easy replacing Cam and Tebow was

Sure is but that's the way it is when you have that kind of player.

Bama coaches are already preparing for A&M. Desinated some players to shut him down and have them working on the plan.

A&M is doesn't not know what is about to hit them.

We're just coming off the "BEST SEASON EVAR!!1" to quote the rant, so I'm not sure why you think an NC would be the standard. We haven't done shite, remember? Try and be consistent.

If you become a school for good QB's, there are some exceptional ones in Texas because of all the spread systems. Many of the exceptional QB's are coming out of the Texas HS system.

And JFF is a special player, but you need the supporting cast as well, and A&M has a lot to replace on defense this year. If JFF stayed until his Jr year, I would say A&M would be the MNC favorites, because we would have the whole package.

2013 may be a year too early, but then again noone expected us to do what we did last year, and it wasn't all JFF.

Your offense needs a good qb to thrive. For example:

Houston record in 2009 with Case Keenum: 10-4

Record in 2010 without Keenum: 5-7

Record in 2011 with Keenum: 12-1

The only thing they can actually do to stop Johnny Fooball is to put 12 guys on the field. Other than that he is simply more talented than your defense. Deal with it.

You act as if we aren't preparing for you in the same manner. What do you think our coaches are gonna do in the off season?

JFF will leave after his soph. year (this coming year). If A&M doesn't win it all, JFF will leave due to the embarrassment of leading the greatest choke job in college football history.
