Fat Phil is Satan for many of us that have been around awhile. It took Nick Saban to exorcise that demon and UT has paid dearly ever since.

The only SEC Head Coach that was skeert to come to Alabama for fear of being served a subpoena.

I don't fault Pruitt for taking a HC job. It makes us look good really, come to Bama and get looked at for HC jobs.

Promote from within (Lupoi) and probably one of our analyst coaches in waiting, and move on.

True Statement. If your coordinators are good, it just comes with the territory. Obviously it's not normal for it to happen three straight seasons with Kirby, Kiffin, and now Pruitt, but clearly Saban is doing a great job at getting his coordinators jobs. He's now gotten 4 previous assistants SEC HC jobs (Dooley, Muschamp, Kirby, and now Pruitt). That sounds like the best job pitch ever for the next guy Saban hires. Alabama will be fine.

True but there is also loyalty, most coaches choose to stay and finish it out.....you probably have no integrity and you probably choose money over everything.

I do not agree with the OP. First I don't think Fulmer "hates Alabama". Wanting to beat your historical rival and hating your historical rival is not the same thing. Also it's not unreasonable for Fulmer to expect his newly hired HC to immediately get to work recruiting and assembling a staff. I have no problem with Coach Pruitt leaving to start his new job today because I sure as hell would be in my office in Knoxville no later than tomorrow if I were Pruitt.

The fact that this never happens is what proves it's unreasonable. Most of the time coordinators that get a new job will finish out the season with their old team even if it's just a mediocre bowl game.

Damn man, you are just making up shite as you go along.

Just admit you are wrong and live to fight another day.

Worked hard? Gumps got beat down thier one meaningful and difficult challenges. Then they sent thier coach or dressed like a used car salesman to beg for help.

He takes Bama's DC just before the 2 biggest games of the season. And I heard he wants Pruitt to skip the playoff games and start the HC job asap. Goddamn thats low even for Phat Phil.

Does Pruitt also coach DB's? Because if he does then Alabama may be better off without him

I think either position is reasonable to take, but I think UT has to be Pruitt’s decision if Fulmer presses him for it.

I don't think UT is in a position to press anybody on anything. At this point, they should just say "Thank you. Show up when you're ready. We'll have donuts in your office." And, the rumor is, Pruitt will coach in the playoffs.

No, that would be Derrick Ansley. Pruitt hasn't coached DBs since he was at Florida State.

s wanting a coach to finish the job he started before he goes to his next job to much to ask these days?

If he were to stay he would have to do both jobs at once because of early signing period. it may actually backfire for Bama. When Ritch took the UGA job he stayed at FSU for the NC game. Later both him and Bowden said on hindsight they wish he had left as soon as he took the job.

It did work for Pellini Nebraska/LSU but again no early signing period then.

Bama has as much experience with this as anyone. We understand the pitfalls of both approaches.

Fulmer isn’t trying to take away Bama’s chance at a bowl game. Nick Saban is the best defensive coach in the country. Fulmer is trying resurrect a football program that he loves. This has ZERO to do with Alabama.

Pretty much everyone in the United States hates Nick Saban outside the people in Alabama and the bandwagonners who gain a sense of self worth buying Alabama team merchandise at the local Wal-Mart. Which, admittedly, is quite a few folks. But everyone else hates everything about the Alabama football program.

Maybe. But Nick Saban owns Fulmer.
