I wonder what the blowback is if one of Alabama's commits were to flip to Tenn and sign early?
I'd be surprised if Pruitt can flip any of Bama's commits or top targets, unless Bama recruits over them. He may land a few that are lower on Bama's board tho. Pruitt can sell early playing time, but not much else. Great players typically want to play in really good programs. Losing sucks. Losing a lot sucks a lot.

The coaches hold all of the cards. That is why they are the highest paid public employees. That is why they get the huge buyouts.
If Tennessee won't accept Pruitt's terms, he can look to take a different job and see where that leaves Tennessee.
Fans need to recognize who has the leverage. You look stupid arguing for an impotent AD.

Not a single coach has left before the playoffs without being pushed.
You have three examples of that, brother. UT is letting Pruitt do this out of decency, not that they are holding to some sacred precedent. It’s great that those two parties were able to work it out amicably. I hope it works out great for all parties involved.
They aren't "letting" him do anything. Pruitt likely stipulated terms saying he wanted to stay on for the run - its also good for UT if he wins but they had zero leverage.
